xenon control unit again
My xenon headlight control unit just went out again. This will be the second time in less than a year on this headlight and once on the other headlight. No water in either headlight. I know these are positioned outside of headlight unit.
Anyone have any solutions how to seal these things or stop them from going bad. Terribly designed. |

Weird, I have 70k on my X and never had this issue. Are your wheel liners intact?

Yup, wheels wells totally covered and newly riveted. in fact most people think you need to remove bumper to change these modules but you can do it through the wheel well. I have a BMW mechanic who does work outside of dealership do these. It still several hundered for part and install.

I have had the Xenon control units fail on my left headlight three times, and replacing it with a new one fixed it each time. In my situation there was definitely an issue with water getting where it shouldn't, as the second failure happended before my eyes as I was driving into an automated car wash and a worker pressure washed the front of my car. The third time it happened I decided to purchase a brand new OEM headlight assembly and am in the process of coding it as we speak (though that frankly is a separate nightmare). I'll let you know if that fixes the issue.
