Is this normal while idleing?

While idling sometime the car gets loud and rpm goes up for a while then it goes down to normal.

I've noticed mine doing the same recently. I haven't figured out a pattern or rhyme/reason for it yet…

Garage List
Mine does this at traffic lights. Idle is normal but seat of the pants, car nearly goes silent.

I thought my avg MPG was bad (I’m a little over 16mpg).

Mine does the same. I have no idea why

That's exactly where I have been all along. Doesn't budge.

Seems to be the sweet spot once you break in the engine. I started off at around 16.8 and it gradually decreased over the first year into the 2nd year to 16.1 where it's been for almost 6 months.
