LCI Service bulletin, hmmm
Just saw someone post this on the FB page, have not verified how valid this is, but... for us that just got their cars, what the heck??!! And this is not just our cars, M3s and M4s also.

My SA just verified that this is indeed an open recall for our cars..., and that there are no parts available for the repair. He was not able to give me further details on what this means as this just came out, he is going to bring it up with the shop foreman.
sigh....

Shit. Took delivery in Spartanburg on 9/29 and I know the vehicle was completed about a week prior to that Sept 18th date on the service bulletin.
I drop mine off Monday for break-in service I'll have to inquire about this

Don't know much about engines but I think this is a pretty big deal and a fairly invasive repair.
Edit: hilariously invasive. Here's a post from M3 forums about main bearing work, showing how the sausage is made. https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1504062 Last edited by Sciros; 10-08-2021 at 12:03 PM.. |

Weird because this was an issue with early S58 motors. I think it was two months of production. Weird that this is an issue again a couple years later

I really hope that's not true as my 22' arrives at port today and is supposed to be to me first part of next week.
I spoke to my sales rep and he sees nothing in his systems. BMW recall checker also shows nothing. |

Absolute shit show, how long we've waiting for these cars and now this.
https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quic...e-recalls.html Put your VIN in there and you can see if it's "Open" or not. Mines open so god knows what they're going to do when it gets here... |

My build was week 38, w/c 20 September, so I might have missed the bullet. Will check with my dealer when it turns up in just over a week.

For you guys that checked with your vin on the website or through your lc dealership. Does it say you have a recall or not?
Mine is sitting at the dealership right now for pickup after signing the paperwork. I called & checked on the site and it's saying 0 open recall. Build date is 8/18. |

BMW's site says there are no open recalls on my VIN. But my production date was 9/15 so... maybe some systems just aren't in sync on this.
Anyway main bearing failure is not great so.. yeah.. I'll just check on this next week. |

If I go to the website it says 0 recalls, however, my SA confirmed I am one of the lucky ones...
From what I am reading/researching this could be some major teardown, I am going to wait until things are more clear, but I am not very inclined to have the engine on my brand new and quite expensive car have its engine tore apart and then hope that it all works out in the end...I am not leasing this car and was planning on keeping the car for a while, so this has red flags popping up all over for me... As I understand it, there was a bad batch of mains bearings and BMW needed to tear apart motors to fix. My production date was late 2019 and fortunately my car wasn't affected so that's all the info I have

Checked the BMW site,0 recalls for mine but I'll confirm Monday..don't wanna ruin my weekend if it turns out mine is included in the recall after all.
Bad enough the dealer can't complete the break-in service due to the diff fluid being on backorder smh
