I wouldn't give my 21 up for a 22 but I am getting closer and closer to giving my 21 up for a pig-nose G80. I went from being repulsed by the G80 to really liking the aggressive style. |

Many thanks to all for the positive comments!
Yes I kept it in Sport and Sport+ during my extended drive of about 150 miles, varying throttle often. There seems to be a difference in takeoff c/w our two pre-LCI models. More immediate, even with proper throttle application as we always use. So perhaps M has adjusted something. Whether it is just programming, or the supposed increased torque, too early for me to say. And obviously haven't done LC yet but looking forward to trying it. More weight for the same construct equals less acceleration. That is a law of Physics, but whether it translates to real world data it’s too early. The other variable will be the lighter weight 892M wheels which will provide decreased rotational and unsprung mass, so I don’t see any way to sort that out unless two similar builds have the different wheels, and that would require rigorous testing to be valid. Point is - if you never use the pano then why have that extra weight up top? If you have a family and the children enjoy looking at the sky while you drive then by all means. |

Congrats to the @Max Well household. Your LCI X3M looks really good in BG along with the newly available 21 inch M forged star spoke wheels. I'm going to be curious for additional comments you may have regarding the new engine tune and enhancements. Enjoy those miles!

After seeing this in Brooklyn Grey I'm on the fence as I was going to order mine with this color. I simply do not like the look of the deleted pano w/out the CF roof. The LCI looks great overall though…..now time to think on a different color; ugh

------- I've had some questions via PM so thought I'd clarify some of them: Rear Wiper installation - how to and is it difficult? Appreciation goes to Dobie Dog for bringing it up in his build thread and giving some of us the idea. Here are three links to specific posts in his thread that clarifies how easy it is to do: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...2&postcount=67 https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=69 https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=70 Blacking out the chrome badge lettering on the grill and sides- how did you do it?: sayemthree has an entire thread in which various methods were discussed as some of us felt that the chrome should've actually been blacked-out (at least on the Competition version) to match how they appear elsewhere in the vehicle. Plus the black seems to give a more aggressive aesthetic. I explained in the following two post links how I did it using an oil paint marker. Inexpensive, takes about 10-15', and I've been impressed how well it has held up over all these months (edit - adding image of the current LCI chrome blacking-out for the PM questions): https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=25 https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...6&postcount=35 Where can we get the good license plate bracket? In the link to the whole thread about the paint damage issue with the poorly-designed license plate bracket which I shared above, it was post#9 where j080808 was the one who found the good one many of us are using: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Thought I'd take a few images in the dark to show how the lights look with and without the brakes applied (hard to get the resolution and lighting right with a cell phone but at least the pattern shows how they appear). No doubt they'll look great - your Staff in the Paint Dept always produce pristine finishes. Look at the shine on that rear wiper!

Wish I had thought to ask the Dealership to weigh the wheels as they were changing out the tires - would've been a perfect chance to compare. I don't recall seeing official weights of our 892Ms - just that they are lighter. If anyone is planning on changing their tires and can weigh them it'd be great for documentation.
Took this image of the DRLs during an early AM car wash today. |
