Considering my Carbon Black 2021 is just weeks away from arrival...
Bad - Missed out on Tanzanite Blue Good - avoided the fugly bumper treatments and the half-baked hybrid system.

It doesn't matter where a vehicle is built. The choice of options offered is often one of geographic preference, local regulations, and most important, how the manufacturer is trying to position the vehicle in the local market. In North America, greater luxury usually means greater size. So better options are reserved for larger cars here. In most of the rest of the world, there's not that distinction, usually because roads, driveways and garages are smaller. So smaller cars often have many more available options.
And fwiw, most of the rest of the world can only laugh when North Americans complain about foreign cars offerings as we pay so much less for vehicles that almost anywhere else.

Having said that, I do agree that this model refresh here is perhaps demoting too many M features at a time (M double-slat grille, M grille badge, M color steering wheel...). But BMW is obviously keen on making its M lineup look like a continuum / color gradient / steady stairway, rather than a binary step function with 'real M models' on one side and 'fake M models' on the other: all M-branded models are the same breed, they just get more purebred the higher you go up the ladder (can't find that chart right now, but it's interesting they are now labeling the base M models 'M High Performance' as if to round off the angles and better relate to the 'M Performance' models, just like Competition already relates to CS and CSL): M Motorsport M CSL M CS M Competition M High Performance M Performance M Sport XXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXX XX X Last edited by advantage20; 06-11-2021 at 01:57 AM.. |

When will the US website update so we can start building. I know some of the sites in other Countries have already been updated.
Can’t wait to place my order. Hopefully similar discounts to the 2021. |

I'm trying to figure out what the advantage is to having the mild hybrid system. I can understand reviews being positive, just wondering what drivers are finding to be an advantage to having the system. It certainly will cost more in maintenance down the road. And it adds to the complexity of the drive train. An incremental increase in gas mileage is very minor, and a slightly smoother ASS experience seems to be negated by an inability to turn it off. More weight cuts the 0-60 time, but minutely. So what's the upside to adding this complicated system to the drive train?

Yeah, that's pretty obvious. What I'm interested in finding out is what constitutes a positive review of this system. I'm all in favor of CO2 emission reduction, but I also imagine the production of this system adds to environmental issues, and batteries certainly can be an environmental contaminant. If it's only to keep regulators quiet, then I suppose we have to eat it. But is there any other upside to the expense? If BMW is worried about the environment maybe they should switch to electric faster, and quit building 382hp rockets, but not before I can buy one!

Also, I find that the present and future negative environmental impact resulting from the creation and disposal of these batteries is not worth the minimal benefits - if any. It appears to be change for the sake of change to satisfy some agenda which really makes no practical sense. |

I spoke with another dealer, and got the following response about ordering:
— Probably have specs and programs on the 22 x3 in late July/August. — They did talk about taking a deposit, but I'm hesitant to put a deposit down without negotiating a price - as I don't want to give up my chance to get the best deal available by locking myself into a dealer now. Thoughts? |

If production begins in August wouldn't it make sense for them to start taking orders soon so they can begin processing once the 2021 orders are completed? Hopefully the late July/August you heard will be moved up. |

I agree. I hope they allow heated rear seats with sensatec too. Completely arbitrary to require the upgrade to leather for that option.

I actually emailed the authors of the press release trying to determine dates for Order/Price Guides etc. They bumped it upstairs and got back a very nice note stating that the bmwusa.com configurator will go up on July 16 (not a typo - it will be JULY 16). So we can stop looking for awhile! Did not get dates for Guides going to dealers - maybe someone else knows this? Also asked if press release will be coming out for the M's Will let you know response.
