F25 Android Screen Retrofit 12.3"
Hello,
I've been looking for display upgrade for a while and surprisingly, available options are extremely limited for RHD. So, I came across this 12.3 screen which I decided to give a try even though it is not available or manufactured for X3 specifically yet. The one I ordered is for F10/F11 NBT, hoping that might work with NBT EVO ID5, with some effort off course... Initially the original car video was not showing up in Android display, at first I though it is due to the NBT vs. EVO LVDS voltage difference, bought an NBT cable and voltage regulator, modified the cable myself, didn't work, later fixed by coding APIX2 --> APIX1 using the OEM NBT cable without any voltage regulator. Few observations I'd like to share:

excellent work!!
I did it using OEM 10.25 in touchscreen (from G30). Check my post maybe you can do something similar to fit the screen: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1547464 |

The thing is, the display sits on top of the air vents nicely and space is also sufficient as you can see below, but since the OEM display had to be taken out completely, there is nothing available for RHD X3 to fill the gap, except the plastic backplate for F10 that came with the display. Although the display is quite big and entirely covers the gap, nothing is visible from both front seats. Nonetheless, I am still determined to cut the plastic piece, finding right dimension is massive challenge, as I won't get a second chance. Funny thing is, I actually tried use a 3D scanner to 3D scan the gap and the plastic plate, import in 3d modeling software to identify the intersection lines, not going very well though from precision point of view, need to figure some way around, although the red plastic tape solution is also not bothering me as much now a days... |

Hi all, I'm residing in Sydney as well which limits the aftermarket Android head units I could purchase. I ended up going with a 8.8inch screen just with touch screen capabilities. Wish I had known the 12.3 inch screen was an option!
This is my video when I installed it. |

Hey Friend, I am hoping that you can help me out here. I have a 2017 X3 , so just like yours, with the NBTEVO. I am trying to buy a screen from AliExpress, but most screens on there are for the NBT. I found a couple of sellers that have a screen for the NBTEVO but there is a huge price difference. My question to you is that , if I bought a NBT (none EVO) screen will it work like how It did for you ? Or do I really need to buy a screen specifically made for the NBTEVO? I don’t seem to see a difference in the wiring harness or the LVDS cable… thank you and btw Your setup looks sick ! |
