Tires Lease Return Question
I have an X3M that came with Continental Sport Summer Tires, being that I live in the North East I swapped them out for Michelin All Season 4's (same size and speed rating). If I return the car with the Michelins All Season 4's will I get charged?

They won't notice , they go off a 3rd party inspection agency and most inspectors won't know what came with the car as long as it's not obvious that it's not stock, like bright color rims

And, if anyone did notice, they're better tires anyway!

They just ask that the load and spread rating are the same.
Also can I ask if you have taken the new tires out in the snow. I need to replace the continental tires on my wife's car. Im hoping the all seasons can handle snow. |

depends ... can go both ways depending on the inspector.
use the summer tires up to 5/32 tread. then switch to all-season tires for length of lease. then before lease inspection, put back OE tires and ur good to go.

I'd be really surprised if they say anything. All lease inspections I've had for various companies have been the same. Remote pre-inspector measures tread depth, notes that in the report and that's it. If you're under the minimum tread depth you get charged and if you aren't you don't. The car is going to auction anyway.

They can handle the snow. Had about 7 inches in the PA/MD area last week. I was on mostly back unplowed roads as most of the mains had accidents on them. Only struggled for grip once when the jackass in front of me stopped on a hill.

Just had them installed three weeks ago in place of the Conti's. Drove in snow last week and they were excellent.

Im in NYC and need to get different tires. Im thinking of all season for winter and 4s for summer. These contis suck. Even in summer continentals had mediocre performance

Imo, if you're gonna switch back and forth, then get winter tires instead for better traction in snow/ice. If you're not gonna switch, then go with all season tires year round.

I concur with this. If you're switching anyway, get the best tire for the occasion, full winters and full summers.

Yes. The inspection form will require the same tires (e.g., runflat or non-runflat) to be on the vehicle. If you do not return the vehicle with the correct tires you can be charged. I think the X3s are either $300 or $350 per tire charge. If you have lease protection, it will NOT cover these charges because you didn't return the car with the same type of tires.
