Wiring of extra high beam X3 2012
Just bought and installed a led bar on my X3 2012 (F25 I think), and faced a challenge when searching for a place to connect the relay control wire, as it appears to be a CAN-bus signal to the lamp fitting rather than a 12V.
Anyone who knows how to get a 12V control signal or (in worst case) where/how to connect to a CAN bus. |

You plan to turn on a LED light bar whenever your high beams come on? Isn't that going to be obnoxious and painful for oncoming traffic until you can get them tuned off? Do you at least have "High Beam Assist"? You didn't mention if you have Halogen, Xenon or LED headlight? Read a schematic to determine what wire to use to trigger the relay. |

Requires of course to be quick in turning the high beam off and even having a disable switch inside. The high beam assist is typically not fast enough. I live in Norway and we have very few long flat stretches, where I see that this can be extremely irritating for oncoming (or traffic ahead of you of course). Here we have lots of turny dark roads, with lots of moose and deer, and I am not satisfied with the xenon lights. |
