Conti's to Michelins Done and Initial Verdict
So, first drive out on the Michelin’s and to be frank I am pretty angry that BMW sold the X3M on the Conti’s. Not only are they appalling for wear (rears at 2mm after 4.5k miles) they tramline and are 'hard'.
The difference from the Conti's is not quite night and day difference as it was when i went from RFT’s to MP4S’s on my 440 but it’s not far off. Ride is noticeably better, tramlining reduced and seems to be less skit when I come slowly out of T junctions but I need to try a few more to prove that. Did a couple of launches to bed the tyres in and surprisingly no slip. Will bed them in for 30 miles or so and then try a few Dragy LC’s. Obviously the suspension noise level is the same and that’s probably still my only and biggest gripe with the car.

I'm a fan of the CSC6 they are a really good tyre, after 6k I'm on 5mm all round, the PS4S have very soft sidewalls hence the ride improves but front end turn in suffers (badly) as does the overall balance the conti feels much more alert.
Each to his own but the conti 6 are good tyres in my experience and regularly beat the PS4S in tyre tests as below: https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Articl...-Tyre-Test.htm https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Articl...-Tyre-Test.htm

I was pretty annoyed when I saw mine had conti's while the regular X3M they had were Michelin. Luckily, I don't have a point of reference and I'm satisfied with their performance at the moment

Made all the difference when I changed in our M3 a few years ago. Night and day difference. Would not be surprised if it makes the same difference on our X4MC come the time.

Love the MP4S's though, everything so far is better.

I have Michelin Latitudes RFT on 20" that were factory fitted, very pleased with them so far, car has now done 7K miles and tyre depth is between 6mm and 7mm.

Yeah, not fan of the Conti's.. Thinking of putting Michelin’s on now and toss the Conti's back on for the lease turn in.

I was not expecting this. Checked out my new car today ahead of delivery this week and I was expecting PS4S.
I suppose in some way it's good to hear you guys are only getting 5k miles out of it, as it means it won't be long before I replace them with PS4S anyway.
