drivetrain malfunction??
Hey Guys/Gals. Happy Holidays!
I had a "Drivetrain malfunction" (on the X3MC) message show up on the screen a couple days ago. It also stated, "May continue driving with reduced power. proceed to service center." I made an appointment the following week since it was friday afternoon at about 5pm (of course.) The vehicle drove and behaved fine the entire time before and after on the way home from work. I drove "normally" without any excessive acceleration, etc. The vehicle/engine was at operating temp when the fault message happened. I started the car up on saturday and the message was gone, and it said all systems OK in the system check section of vehicle info on idrive. At the appointment the following week the following was read out of the computer: One time fault for bank 2 turbo waste gate sluggish on cold start. The service tech performed the test module and no fault was found at this time. Any thoughts on this one? The service advisor basically said if it happens again, they will open a case with BMW. The vehicle continues to drive/operate/run without any issues. Thanks for any thoughts! SS |

My wife had a problem reversing out of the garage this morning. The car moved a couple feet and stopped. She tried putting it in park and restart and got nothing. She came and got me, by the time I tried it was back to normal. This is something we will have to keep an eye on.

I had the same issue 35 miles into my first X3MC. Literally driving off the lot on my first day. Brought it back to the dealer, read the codes resulting in the same wastegate issue. I drove it around for another 200 miles to replicate the issue and it did followed by a CEL. The dealer was cool AF and allowed me to trade it in, made me whole on the $. They fixed that first X3MC two months later. Hope you are not driving my old car.
The dealership management was awesome. BMW treated me right.

M coupe:
Interesting. Guess we will see what happens. I ordered mine new, and it was delivered in October. I have about 1500 miles now...mainly in town driving. No road trips so far. Love the car so far; hope this isn't an ongoing issue. |
