It's got to be at BMW for 2 days too!!!! No damn courtesy car either.
2 days? That's too long. I paid £350 for four year's alloy insurance for my F25. A total of 6 alloys could be repaired per year. They repaired my diamond cut alloys on the driveway. The job was so amazing that you couldn't tell that the alloys have been repaired.

For the G01 we specced 360 degree camera and made an agreement. Whoever curbs the alloys has to drink a can of Pepsi Max while eating a tea spoon of wasabi paste.
They explained the process to me and it's the same as Nottingham Wheel Specialist for a diamond cut alloy. Lathe, then the cure / seal takes time and overnight to complete.

£150 is decent too.

Had another quote for a mobile at £60, but given how new my car is and the fact that the work is fully warranted by BMW I'm going with them.

£150 is way too much bud. The guy I use is £65 a wheel and he does a stellar job. Let me know if you want me to put you in touch.

Thanks - might wait and see if someone with an X3M does it and videos before and after shots.

In the meantime I'll waste my money on a kerbed alloy which is going into BMW at the end of the week to get fixed
You kerbed an X3M wheel already?

Damn that's unlucky! I guess the X3M wheels aren't kerb proof like the 20" M40d ones!

The 718s on the M40 have zero rim protection

Yep, beautiful wheels with a now iconic BMW design. Just need some decent tyres with rim protection to be released for them now.

Michelin normally do pretty good rim protection

verysideways any thoughts? I know you have 20"s however

Wonder if the diamond cut faces of the 718's will be as prone to corrosion as the 403M’s. .....

Probably.

Aren't the 699s diamond cut as well, though?

I don't worry about rim protection - i buy my preferred rubber (in this case Michelin PS4S) and spec my car with surround view. The surround view isn't cheap but if it saves curb damage...

And now that the roads are going to be salted my 699's will be coming off and cleaned anyway (salt and diamond cut/lacquered don't mix well) and the 19" winters will be back on by this weekend.

BMW 19" winters ? ... or not ?

I'm in SW London so haven't got any for the X3, having sold the set I had for my M240i.

Snow socks will have to do for me atm.

Having just returned from near Stroud I can see the appeal of winters or those roads/hills !

Should be a lot better as the bits around the centre caps aren't diamond cut, and that's the area that's most common to go.

I believe the lacquer can't adhere to sharp 90 degree corners, it's the centre hub area where my 19s went on my F25. 4 wheels changed under warranty.
