Adaptive headlights

I’ve been trying to find out if the US cars have the portion of the adaptive headlights that turn slightly around a bend. I know they don’t have the anti dazzle setting. I have the cornering light that comes on in a sharp turn but can’t tell if the headlights turn at all around smaller bends. Is this something that would have to be coded like the anti dazzle?

I believe the headlights turn when you turn the steering wheel.

It depends on the headlights that you have. Up to 2020 there were 3 different types of headlights:

1. Base LED Non Cornering Low Head Lamps with halogen high beam. Turn signal is halogen.
2. Adaptive LED head lamps low and high (cornering). Turn signal is halogen, and Halo LED DRL.
3. Icon Full LED Adaptive head lamps low and high (cornering). Turn signal are LEDs and DRL are the icon style.

2 and 3 includes full LED rear tail lights as well.

For 2020 model, 1 was discontinued and now 2 is standard.

I have a 2020 executive so I know I have the ability just wasn’t sure if that needed to be coded as well.

If you have executive, then you have setup #3 Icon LED. For the cornering light to work, the light switch must be in auto.

I have the Icon Full LED Adaptive head lamps. The low beams turn a little bit to the left and right, depending on how I turn my steering wheel (but the effect is somewhat subtle). When I turn the steering wheel more than some threshold degrees, the cornering lights also light up. I have read on various forums that the left and right movement of the low beams is more pronounced when you code Variable Light Distribution (VLD). I have been meaning to do that for some time, but have been busy at work. VLD can be coded in BDC_BODY2 by:

I paid more attention last night and I think I did notice them turning very slightly. Not sure it’s even enough to notice a difference.

Same here. I also only noticed it after I concentrated on it. It is more apparent when driving away from city lights where the only source of illumination is the car's headlights.

I see the light move when I wiggle the steering wheel left to right at a light when I see my headlights up close on the car in front of me. Garage door works too.

That is NOT variable light distribution. The video shows non-glare high beams, also known as anti-dazzle high beams. Variable light distribution is explained in post #4 here

I doubt JB had it coded. The video was filmed in Europe. The speed limit in the HUD shows the European sign and the speed units are kmh, not mph. Later in the video, the speed reaches 110. If JB was driving on a narrow windy road in the rain at 110 mph, then more power to him. I hope he's got good life insurance.

Anti-dazzle lights cannot be coded with BimmerCode. They require VO coding, which BimmerCode does not support. You need E-Sys to code anti-dazzles.

Not available through BimmerCode unfortunately.

Reach out to Almaretto on here for details , he was great in doing a remote session through E-sys to set me up.

anti dazzle uses high beam that move around cars in front of you and oncoming cars to illuminate as much road as possible without causing distraction to other drivers.
Variable light distribution bends the headlights further the faster you go, they also move the light beam up and down depending on hilly terrain or load in car. these two systems do two separate things but work in unison to illuminate as much road as safely possible to help you see obstacles sooner and react.

Just got mine done this morning and I'm anxious to see how they work. Is it a setting that is only used when the auto high beam is activated?

Doesn't your car already have it? I thought all European cars have it. Or are UK regulations similar to those in the US?
