MY2020 X3 Driving Assistant Plus Lane Keep Assist attention monitoring feature

Till MY2019, the DA+ LKA feature of X3 require frequent physical contact with the steering wheel to prevent LKA from disengaging. Whereas X5 have had a camera based system for monitoring driver attention instead (so holding the wheel not strictly necessary).

Since MY2020 X3 now has a fully digital dash with live cockpit professional, is the LKA feature now same as X5, or continuous to be X3-like from before?

Anyone with DA+ included on their 2020 X3 who can post pictures of the dash?

I have.. is pictured on website. No cameras in dash.

Personally, I don't really care. Steering wheel uses capacitance sensors so you just need to have a hand someplace on it. Tesla requires resistance.. and little wheel tweaks to stay engaged.. it really sucks.

I have been driving almost a week now. I think the DA+ with iDrive 7 might be slightly better than in 2018 & 2019 X3s - seem to be better at corners and keeping lane in general.

Does anyone know where exactly is the sensor point to check hand is on wheel? One BMW guy Said on wheel at 10 and 2. One said on bottom yoke.

Seems to be anywhere on the wheel.

I haven't been very scientific, touching 1 finger all places and recording, but I have put my hands various places along the wheel without any issues.

2020 X3 M40i still relies on touch detection sensor in the steering wheel for hands on feedback.
