As I look over pics of the X4, with Alpine white it looks very "gold?"

I have AW with cerium and it doesn't look anything like gold. You can't rely on computer generated pics to form an opinion.

I’d characterize it as more of a titanium color. More of a gray with a slightly brown tinge to it. Of course, I’m colorblind, so what do I know?

Definitely doesn't look at all good in person.

I really liked the Cerium trim at first but wasn't a fan of the maintenance of it and how easily it would show water spots. Plus it bothered me a bit that the Cerium seemed out of place with the gloss black window trim. I ended up swapping all Cerium pieces out for gloss black.

That's what I'm thinking.... ordered an Alpine white x4 m40i with black roof rails and wheels. Wanting that classic black on white bimmer look and the Grille is definitely "out of place."

Ceramic coat works great for keeping the cerium parts clean. Before I had my car coated it was very difficult to keep them clean.

I've just ordered an Alpine White X4 M40 and will change out all the cerium pieces to black as quickly as possible. I'm sure there will be 'Extended Shadowline' option for the X3/4 in the near future (prob with the LCI) as BMW has done with so many of its other models.

So far I have tried Shampoo of different types, Gtechniq C2V3, Sonax polymer Net Shield, Sonax BSD, AutoGlym UHD Wax, In2detailing Ceramic Wax, Done & Dusted SI edition, Done & Dusted, CarPro DLux and probably some others that I can't remember and every one has worked absolutely fine.

I for one prefer the cerium as it stands out as being a M lite car and it matches the alloys, but obviously I seem to be in a minority. :)

I have always preferred chromed or brushed chrome trim so I certainly did not buy this car for its cerium trim. and personally I just do not like black gloss trim. but when I got this car I had it ceramic coated in the first two months and this cerium trim has never given me any trouble and now I like it. i have water spots on the windshield but never on the paint or trim. I dislike the black so much it would stop me from getting the true M.

While I understand that Americans have no right to complain about our cars when we consider what we pay versus the ROW, this sort of thing drives me crazy. We can't even get those options as a BMW-installed accessory even though all the parts are available at a US factory. It's just bizarre how BMWNA doles out options like this for the US market. :mad0259:

I think the Cerium looks good on all of the dark colored cars and works with the contrast.

On the light colored cars, not so much. I have Glacier Silver and think the Cerium does not fit and would prefer Gloss Black where there is Cerium.
