Can we talk about that MPG?
I've never been one to complain about MPG, especially in an M car but holy hell 14/19 is awful. That's worse than the GLC 63 and worse than my S65 M3! This adds another knock against the X3M that does not make much sense.

No you just go into every thread on this forum and complain about everything regarding these cars and how much you hate them.

Really? Huh. I just went back through my posts and I don't see any complaining. It is however quite notable if the X3M gets the above mentioned MPG as it would be worst in segment by far and worse than V8 numbers.

I would have to agree the mpg can sour a potential buyer. For me I would buy it to have for 10 plus years. Would be doing trips around the state and don't necessarily want to fill up every few miles. Plus what is to say you don't get one that will not even achieve 19 highway.

Where did these 14/19 numbers come from? If you look at the tech documents (page 6) that were previously posted is shows l/100km is 10.5
10.5 Liters per 100 km = 22.40 U.S. MPG Edit: Oh I see, the random review sites list it differently. Seeing as they don't even agree with each other, I think it's safe to say that you should trust BMW (the manufacturer) technical documents for a vehicle over a random website. AutoExpress 26.9 mpg Automobile 14/19 Autoweek 14/19 Car and Driver 16/14/19 Car Magazine 26.9 mpg

Actually, I'll admit I was shocked by the MPG as well. But then I also saw that it does 0-60 in 3.9... that's probably faster than the not-even-made-yet M2 CS. Even with a DCT.. .. With rear seats and a hatch ... I'm just not sure I need to get to Home Depot that quickly .. |

14/19 probably about right
My F80 M3 is hardly gets 19mpg on mix driving, that's on 2WD 3600lb car. Yes you can get 19mpg on X3M on very long trip, hardly any braking on freeway cause once you move momentum requires little gas to burn to maintain speed, but you probably fall asleep on the trip like that my E71 X650i, same driving routes and styles, gets me 15mpg But hey, gas price is coming down folks so relax. |

Gas mileage concerns can be easily negated by considering Toyota Prius which resembles X4M at a distance of approximately 10,000 light years. Otherwise, X4M can be enjoyed without any concerns knowing someone else with Tesla Model 3 will reduce carbon foot print.

With my X5M I have been able to do more aggressive downshifting and more aggressive acceleration to get my average mpg to 15.0. If you see yourself drifting up then just drive with more throttle. No need to worry about achieving too high of a fuel efficiency when it is so easily and enjoyably corrected.
