Carwow review is quite positive including suspension... from a Brit! Makes you wonder what happened to the Top Gear team.

What annoys me (and stopped me purchasing an F82) is that I like having the option to customise the throttle, suspension and steering. Somewhat comfortable for the commute and harder for back roads, sounds great. HOWEVER, what is the point when the suspension is too stiff even in comfort mode and the steering too heavy in comfort mode? It negates the purpose of it all.
I was really hoping they would sort this out in the newer generation of cars but it seems like nothing has changed. I expect the G80 will now be no different in these areas.

Perhaps the X3M40i would be a better match for what you're looking for?

I know everyone is different, but I actually find the M3C pretty comfortable in err, comfort mode and so does SWMBO. I like a car to feel a bit sporty, but for me it's "Goldilocks".

Not sure how a SUV can feel like an M3/4 with the extra weight and higher centre of gravity.

Just avoid the SUV and get the new M3/4...
The main issues were steering and acceleration. I didn't expect it to feel just like an M3/M4, but at least closer to it.

My expectations were rightly set in my opinion. The X3M underperformed them. Especially the lag when accelerating at low revs. It was really noticeable.

I drove the X3M Competition at the M Town Tour. Really rough ride, you will feel everything on the road. I checked the tire pressure and it was correct. Also the transmission was slow to react on kick downs.

I expected so much of this and they can't get one thing right: involvement. Shame. The M40i wasn't that great to drive either and I guess this was expected. Feel like this just tuned M40i opposed to a real M product.

I drove the Macan before, and did not like it.

So my choices for sporty SUV's are F-Pace SVR or the Stelvio Q

SVR has less performance but it will definitely bring more smiles.

How did the lag compare to the current M3/4?

They have less torque, but also a lot less weight so will be easier to accelerate for a given throttle opening.

I think it falls short of the Macan GTS/Turbo and Giulia Quadrofoglio in terms of speed/acceleration and handling.

Left disappointed, as I was looking at this for my girlfriend.
So your girlfriend wears the and drives the pants in the relationship?

Test drove one at the M town event. A few things I don't like from M40i owner:

1. Need the newest idrive system
2. Gear paddles are too close to the steering wheel just like the M40i
3. Doesn't feel brutally fast

not lookin promising compared to stelvio quad.
having driven the stelvio- its truly a drivers suv. MMI alone is deal-breaking though.

I don't know which F8X you've driven but my 18' ZCP is a Lexus on comfort.
I literally cannot leave the garage without sports + everything before I drive off.

That's because most of their secondary roads are beat up horse trails with globs of asphalt thrown on top.
