Curious that you trade down from an M5. i would think you would consider the M8 GC as replacement.

Have you driven an X5M (F85)? Curious your impressions on how this compares?

Yes! Biggest minus in my opinion is the cheap looking Dashboard! Seats and doors inside look great - actually the M seats are the same as on the M8 ??

I am desperately waiting for any test!

Why are there no M seat belts? In the Swiss configurator they are included in the Competition specs, in the German one no

Yeah that's a stupid availability delay. Apparently any customer cars built before Sep/Oct timeframe will not get the M Seat Belts.

Which pisses me off because not only will I not have them, but because they were listed on my order it sat in the queue and didn't get a production date until after they removed the seat belts... so that delayed me another month.

Thanks for letting me know! So I will wait a bit with my order… Maybe there will be some other changes too in the upcoming months.

It's been reported on here that ID7 should be coming around April 2020. Also, the Carbon Exterior package was delayed/moved till December if that's something you want.

LOL... this whole watering down the line of M-cars. Please, they are getting better and faster. If you don't like it get a Porsche. Its an SUV or SAV which is good for kids and getting groceries. ALSO great for snow to be seen w proper winter tires.

If the new motor is as good as they say, the G80 M3 will be much better than the F80 M3 Comp.

The new materials and color combos they are now using in the car are amazing.

I am sure there will be a few ppl that will be upset it does not have the two manual shifters on the floor. LOL... 4x4

Thanks for the quick review.
I hope the production will have powered steering wheel column.
It helps getting in and out easier.

I'm still most likely gonna get an X3MC but it's doesn't change the fact that I believe the entire M brand is being diluted. It's becoming a joke slapping a competition badge on an SAV. The X3MC is still a great little vehicle but it's not the monster I was expecting.

How are you guys getting production dates? I'm out in KC and our dealer still hasn't received any allocations. Is it a regional or perhaps volume issue? I was gung ho about ordering the X4M Comp for my wife, but now considering waiting until late in the year now to see what/if any changes are made.

The Car is Dynamically insane and the amount of Grip it has blew my mind......It needs to be driven like a real M car to experience it...….BMW is not watering their line up down its the complete opposite.

BMW makes M cars with Dual Personalities now.. incredible comfort when in efficient and up to full tilt.... driven hard you will see there are no compromises you will really only experience that effect visiting a track day or a BMW performance driving school.

At least that's my Biased opinion !!!

Forgot to mention the 4.16 0 to 60mph is raw data. Did not include rollout like the Magazines use. The "Magazine" protocol 0 to 60mph with rollout is 3.97 seconds with 2 people and 4000FT DA for the X3M. In March of 2016 my X5M pure stock with one person and 2800ft DA went 3.95 seconds 0 to 60mph with rollout. The X3m has bones !

Don't get carried away with 0-60.

Traction from a standing start whilst useful in damp conditions means that comparing a 4WD car to a RWD car is pretty pointless.

I.e. a RWD car with a 0-60 time of 4secs, is "faster" in normal driving, than a 4WD car with a 4 second time.

Think also about the M240i xdrive Vs a M240i.

In normal driving they would feel the same, so a car with a fast 0-60 time due to good traction, isn't as fast as some might think....there's no replacement for displacement

Absolutely do get “carried away “.

When a 3.9 AWD ride blows away a 4.1 RWD ride In a race....It is a win!!! Period The RWD ride can then go to the bar and use your post to feel better. It’s called acceleration.

How many times do you "race" from a standing start? Far more likely to be accelerating down a slip road 40 to ???

Will be funny to see an X3M at the 'Ring. Far happier to be in my C63S or F80 M3C.

If you want to believe an X3M is the faster car, then go ahead. Personally, I would rather have the handling that physics don't allow an X3 or X5 to have, as good as they might be.

As with anything automotive, it's all about personal choice.

Some nice Ring footage.

Easily over 1000 races from a start. That's why it's called drag racing.

Drag racing? Not my thing. Much prefer bends.

I used to have an F10 535i. Prior to having the MPPK fitted, the 0-62 was 5.7 seconds. With The MPPK it was 5.4 seconds. From a standing start, you didn't notice it. Instead, the extra power and torque showed themselves when you were on the move.

I would be surprised if most people would be able to feel half a second difference to 60. 6 seconds Vs 6.5, 5 seconds Vs 5.5, you get the idea...

So are you saying an X3M is faster around the 'Ring than an F80?

I went to M Town a couple days ago at my local dealership.

Had the opportunity to drive the X3M but drove the M5 Competition and the 850i convertible instead.

We are happy with the Wife's X3 M40i and not looking to upgrade so wanted to drive a couple other cars.

The M5 was a beast and loved the sound of the exhaust. Sticker was $133k.

For some reason they sent a ride along when I drove the 850i and as soon as I gave it some gas getting on the freeway, she cautioned me that their were cops ahead Lol. Nice solid ride and good power.
