I'm hoping the pause in North America marketing may indicate BMW re-thinking how to roll it out? Perhaps sensing from Dealer (and Forum?) feedback that many are waiting for August and iD7, and realizing it's less than optimal to begin production with 'temporary' iD6 versions for 2-3 months. As none of us have real knowledge of the actual details this could be an incorrect assumption, of course. But going with the prevailing theory -
Might be better to hit the road running with a complete package from the start. Get the NA website builder up and running, let Dealers know they can start taking orders, and make sure whatever you are allowing for model year 2020 will be the real deal. Doubt many of us waiting to place our orders will mind waiting a few months. Understand the need to keep Corporate marketing strategy close to the vest, but you have an interested Enthusiast base so it would be helpful to share at least some of the details relevant to those waiting to order. |

Apparently there’s an M pavilion at the Sebring raceway this weekend and it’s being displayed there. If any locals stop by please post some pics and let us know your thoughts!

I feel confident ID7 is not going to be a thing on X3M until M5 gets it. My gut is the M cars will get it at same time. Anyway I emailed my dealer to ask when I can see one in the metal locally. Waiting to hear back.

Saving this post for when August production rolls around. Just in case.

It's for M Gruppe members, and all the info is posted on their calendar. Looks to be a pretty big event...DJ, food/drink, silent auction, 8 new models introduced!!!
Becoming an M Gruppe member is free and easy, so long as you are the owner of an ///M car: https://www.mgruppe.org/rules

Despite you not being a member, you should still try and go see it, especially since you are in Houston. It seems like a pretty big event for only M Gruppe members.

Yes, that's exactly what they said. Sadly, my pathetic X3 M40i is not a "real" M in their minds so I don't qualify.
I actually find it funny...why wouldn't they want to invite BMW enthusiasts like myself who own "M Performance" models to become members? Oh well, I guess I'll just have to hang out with the rest of the pathetic, "non-M" owning BWWCCA members like myself. |

I was being sarcastic. I know my M40i is awesome, and I really don’t care that I was denied membership to this “prestigious” (that’s me being sarcastic again) club!

I have a 2006 Z4 M Roadster and when I applied for membership with my VIN, which starts with "5UM" (because it was made in Spartanburg, SC, not in Germany), the web form didn't allow that VIN saying that it was not a valid M VIN, because it didn't start with "WBS", which all German-made M cars start with. I e-mailed the group based on their Contact Us info and wanted to know what the deal was, saying that I indeed did have a ///M car, but I never got a reply. A few years later, I bought a 2016 M4 and was granted membership by virtue of the fact that I now had a "real" ///M car, made in Germany (apparently where only "real" ///M cars are built). I listed my M Roadster in my "garage" on that site.
