Got an update from BMW Germany. Ship arriving this Sunday (13 jan) In Bremerhaven and PDI will take a small week. Delivery at dealer expected between 21-27 January!

Car is in the UK (and I assume has been for a week given the ship arrivals)

No contact from dealer. Didn't reply to yesterday mornings email asking for an update.

Online chat says not due for arrival at dealership until 29th 🙄

Update from dealer: car is now expected 28jan - 1feb, delivery in week 7 if the license plates are ready. Will probably have dealership give us a loaner car for a week or so since current car is sold and owner is waiting to take possession of it.

Hoping it actually arrives this week!

Ordered an M40d on 13th Jan and was notified 'departed plant - 9000' on 26th Jan. Most impressed!

Well that didn't last long! Car arrival in the Netherlands now delayed till "somewhere next week" for the second time! What is taking so long!?

Have now demanded a loaner car from the dealer since promised delivery date will be exceeded by three weeks, and the poor lady that agreed to buy my current car and even made a deposit has been waiting for 2 weeks now. Of course this isn't BMW's business, but they keep promising dates the car will arrive, I plan things based on those dates (including f*** -up margins!) and then BMW doesn't adhere to their own promises. Done with it now!

Ordered my 40D on 4th January but haven't heard anything since. How do you go about tracking its progress?.

If you have or get the official order number from dealer go onto the BMW website and there is a option to open a chat box which connects you with a genuis who will let you know the status

Yep, the waiting sucks. Maybe they are waiting for the plates. Good luck!

The hilarious thing is, is that they don't even have the paperwork yet! No invoice, no car documentation, anything. That's why we want the car to arrive at the dealer, because only then can they make the plates, they told us. It's very annoying.

Got an email from dealer asking me to call to discuss "mobility options" until the X3 arrives... Let's see what happens

If nothing is showing go to build a car option on site then option to chat should appear there, or that's how it used to happen when I was awaiting mine

Doesn't seem to be available now. Going into dealers tomorrow to pick up a set of winter wheels and tyres for the 40d will ask the salesman if he has any info n the car.

Yep, all US drivers hate the diesel so BMW has no choice but stops selling those in US

Innnnteresting you should mention that. Last year when the VW gate filtered to other manufacturers my boss, who resides in Florida, got an awesome deal from Audi because they couldn't shift their diesels. They picked up an A8L and a Q7 for what she said was a steal. If it weren't for the recent bad press perhaps it would come your way.

She said both her and hubby think they're awesome.

That said, I'm so jealous you guys still can afford to run a V8. Nothing beats that sound :-)

Seriously though, I'm all for choices and I know some US folks would be interested in options like Diesel engines. Same goes for Merino leather, auxiliary heating, silver-plated buttons, etc. etc... that we don't get to choose in US

I have a similar delivery estimate and my car left the factory on 23/1, so I guess my car is a boat buddy too!

At the moment I suspect that the ship involved will be the Tianjin Highway which would sail from Durban on the 14th Feb, arriving in the UK about the 10th March. It is at present on the eastern coast of India.
I would like to be wrong!

Aren't the M40i/d versions destined for Europe all made in Spartanburg or has that changed?

I don't think there is anything wrong with the car, dealer told me it is probably stuck at customs.

Anyways, problem solved for now, Sales assistant was very apologetic and there is no problem with getting a temporary car till the X3 arrives. Will officially be transferring ownership of our Benz next week and pick up the loaner. (kind of hoping it's an i3, always liked that little electric car.) Delivery of X3 now mid-end Feb IF customs manages to produce Diplomatic plates in time... But I'm sure the car will have been worth the wait!
