Faulty suspension bushing

Started having an issue where the front wheels would slip and clunk when backing out of my small driveway gutter. Then any speed below 45 mph my tires were roaring. I was thinking it was crappy run flats but turns out there is a design issue with a soft suspension bushing so they’re ordering replacement parts. I guess there is a technical journal for it. Anyone else have this issue?

What car is this on? Your bio says you have an E46.

I've experienced the same issue. The first time it happened I thought it was due to backing out of the driveway at a slight angle. Nope. It happens even when the vehicle is completely perpendicular to the gutter.

If you get a specific diagnosis, I'd be interested in sharing it with my dealer.

Title says faulty bushing but the parts list contains no bushing? Replacing a whole shock seems like much bigger concern to me.

Got any more info on this known issue?

I've been having intermittent clunking sounds from the front passenger side when going over bumps and the clunk when backing out of a driveway. Good to know I wasn't crazy haha. Please keep us updated. My dealership isn't very good so I'll probably have to tell them exactly what to look for.

Maybe this bulletin? Seems like a lot of work to complete. When was your X3 built?

I was March of 2017. I guess I don't fall into the service bulletin production time frame. Darn I was really hoping this was the cause.

Im have the same exact issue with 18 X3 M40i. The dealership couldn't hear the noise or replicate it. I went on a test drive with them and replicated it and they still couldn't figure it out. They thought it was plastic rattling. I will now mention the suspension bushings to them. Thanks for the post
