The next big thing for millionaires with nothing better to do with their money!!

Why would you buy one of these?.... you want a great handling performance car? so buy an M2/M3... or if you really know your stuff, a Porsche...

These are overpriced SUVs... emphasis on the word UTILITY!!! I just don’t get these cars and can’t believe I’m the only one!

X3... I get. X4, sure for those who want a slightly less ‘frumpy’ X3... but M versions... really???

The current chasis has problems putting the power to the ground already in rwd format. Don't think it's a good production move by the company if you ask me. SAV's already outsell sedans and now a small SAV that outperforms the bread and butter of the brand. I hope BMW thought this through. Don't want to make the jump to an SAV but I can't fathom watching the tailights of an X3 get smaller in my f80 M3 windshield. it would eat me up inside.😂

same customer base, just people are buying different cars now, I will be getting a X3M or X4M and trading in my M3, makes sense in my position.

its not like they are selling $30,000 M cars now...

It's where the market is going and has been going for years. This class of SUV /CUV's have grown and provide quite a bit of utility with performance that is very similar to their "car" equivalents at least for the every day driver. I have a 550 currently and am thinking long and hard about an X3M to replace that next year as opposed to a M5. I've already drove one of those... anxiously awaiting the X3M...

Ever considered just making the car as good as you can, from the outset? Rather than slotting predetermined place holders in a respective range?

I wonder if the E46 M3 was given 333 BHP (343 in EU, IIRC) because the CSL needed “room”?

Or maybe they made the original as good as they could...and then tried harder with the CSL.

This new approach makes little sense to me...who will bother with the “base” Ms going forward??

Totally understand what you’re saying but I question the additional utility associated with SUV/SAVs. I’ve bent in the new X3, and other than the higher seating position (if that’s your thing) I don’t see an advantage over my F80.

The seating position I believe is the factor for most. I love driving my sedan but live the SUV that much more. That is my biggest concern with the X3... the interior dimensions. I think I've had one as a loaner before but I'm hoping the new one grows as most new platforms do and the M gets the appropriate interior appointments.

Considering the same... less the lease swap part. Currently in a 17 X5M but will probably be due right around the time the X3M will finally release.

I guess you didn’t “get” the GMC Typhoon from way back in 1991. It’s sister, the GMC Syclone was apparently the fastest stock truck at the time.

M versions of SUVs were gonna happen. When M Division stuck the LeMans V12 in an X5, the deal was sealed. Especially since Mercedes had a AMG’d up ML.
So, this is the natural course of things. And BMW has to keep up with the competition. The X3 and X4 are smaller versions of the X5 and X6, which have their own respective M versions. So it makes sense.
Now, the real question is, would they make an X1M and X2M? And would that have a S48. And how much power—-380, 400? And if so, would that S48 go into a 1M or 2 series GC (M2 GC)? Which are built on the UKL FWD/AWD chassis?

You'll miss that V8 of the F85. Then when the F95 is released in 2+ years putting down 600 up lease swap again?

I'm a guilty party for purchasing a X5M, talk about overkill— but the market is there and BMW AG will keep on manufacturing, and I will keep on buying.

It will be interesting how much the X3M cannibalizes future G80 sales, especially as the X3M will be to market by 1 1/2 years. M4 and M4 vert is a different customer demographic. Don't see M4 customers changing to the X4M, as it would be a M3 customer who needs the four doors.

That's my biggest fear! Not sure if I'm willing to give up those two cylinders. I know the X3M will be lighter and powered accordingly but AMG stuffed a TT V8 in the GLC63... just sayin...

That exact frustrated customer.

I absolutely love and want the M4, BUT it is NOT yet offered with "M xDrive." I've been requested that for years now. I've also requested an X4 M for as many years as the X6 M has existed. So their you go!

Crazy guys like me want just ONE BMW M high performance ride, but also needs and wants to be able to carry shit, such as hauling a drum set, mountain bikes, driving in all kinds of weather conditions without any limitations whatsoever.

I hope so for both X3 M & X4 M models.

For cool stuff like this?
The 18 year old BMW OEM Multi-Trailer introduced way back in 2000, yes folks that's 18 years ago. It came out right before 9/11 when the first X5 was introduced. I say it's time to bring it back!

It's time to put "ACTIVITY" back into the BMW SAVs!!!

It’s interesting that BMW have no intention of bringing out an M version of the 3 or 5 Series touring, just of the X3/4/5/6. Obviously not everyone wants a high driving position SAV/ SUV, hence the popularity of the RS4, RS6 & C63, E63 wagons, so it puzzles me why BMW refuse to come into this market.

Personaly, I need the higher driving position on the X, but there are loads of people that don’t.

Yep! X3M could be the perfect car where I live (Swiss Alps). There is already a lot of Macan and other sporty SUVs in my area. This time I will test drive G80 Competition and X3 (Competition if possible) before deciding.
