Wow, I guess the top speed is indeed 155mph. lol Did you just take this recently? It's one thing to read it on paper but to see it is something else. Nice video.

The run took place less than two weeks ago on the secret BMW test track A94 in southern Germany...

Have no doubt it is capable of performing as the accompanying instrument cluster is suggesting (cannot speak to its validity or accuracy in this video, though).
The G01 seems to prefer being at speed in a highway setting rather than in stop-and-go city traffic. Not sure if infrastructure, driving experience and its inherent safety concerns, and vehicular reliability will ever allow more universal high-speed connecting highways in the future (perhaps automation eventually?), but it would definitely make the use of aviation in short-haul environs obsolete if it comes to pass. |

Should be fairly accurate... The BMW M135i hits the limiter @ 255kph OBD and 250KPH GPS

It is a bit refreshing to see a video showing the X3 M40i take off... so many videos have just been test drives, testing the handling on the track, etc. as opposed to just watching it speed away. The engine and it's 355hp is touted so much but none of the videos have actually shown it put to use. Now you know how it looks to someone when you speed away from them.

Reminds me of some early Sunday drives from Basel to Mulhouse. There were a few stretches with no limits. Took my M3 up to 250km/hr Cipri you are right about the drivers having good lane discipline. When they saw my car coming up they would pull over. After doing that the drive home on Swiss motorways was dull. Everyone travels at 120; no faster, no slower. Most people had a TomTom or Garmin in the windscreen to show the actual speed. If not the fixed and mobile speed cameras would get you. The grace zone was often 3km/h actual.

Having an X3M on US roads might be an exercise in futility with our dumb drivers. I actually have an e84 X1 M sport with the " small motor " because I didn't need the 6 cylinder and I didn't want AWD mandatory. The fuel economy is also a plus. That X3M40 with M sport goodies ( but not the steering wheel apparently !) might just be plenty for me. That thing is straight hauling! |

That new X3 M40i is quite fast. Seems to hit the spot between comfort and speed. Not a sports car but not bad either for a small SUV
