Picked up my new X3 M 4.0
After way too much thought and trying everything available ended up getting what is supposedly the first delivery in San Diego. Specs are AW/Black with upgraded leather, Driving Assistance, Premium, 21's, etc.
Having owned multiple M cars I will say that I love this little monster truck. Drove it back to back with an M3 and while not as fast or agile, it is more fun to throw around on a backroad because it is more accessible. What I mean is that I don't need to be a mach chicken in order to feel like I am going fast and having fun. Compared to my M4 or M5 where I always knew if anything went wrong at speed it was going to be major. I actually bought it for my wife, but I think I am going to be stealing it a lot from her! Here are a few pics from the dealer 20171109_124023 by Sales Punk, on Flickr No M steering wheel as everyone knows... 20171109_124047 by Sales Punk, on Flickr 20171110_193112 by Sales Punk, on Flickr 20171110_193129 by Sales Punk, on Flickr |

Great looking car! Congratulations.
Interesting comments as was saying exactly the same thing to a friend this am. I'm swapping my F80 M3 for one for that reason. On the track in perfect conditions the M3 is fantastic but day to day on the damp potholed UK roads I can get quicker A-B in my wife's Mini Cooper. I love the M3 but you have to be alert all of the time as it just loves trying to kill you!! Also with a little squeeze of the pedal you are at licence loosing speeds. Will miss the M3 on those once a year perfect road/conditions days, but suspect the X3 will be far better for 99% of the time. |

Great looking car!
I too am saying goodbye to my M3. It was fun on the alpine roads in Switzerland and northern Italy, exciting on the Autobahn but now back here with so many speed traps it is a always a concern. I really enjoyed it for the three years in Europe. In Canada it is more of a status thing. I am beyond that. I want something practical. My GT is coming off lease and I will be reducing my car pool by two. I will still keep the Z4 for summer drives on country roads. What you said about being fun a legal speeds (or at least not speeds that risk a 30 day impound) is what I remember about my first BMW - a 318 E30. It was really fun at 75mph. Congratulations on a great buy. |

Looks great OP! Love AW! And 21" are a must IMHO!!
Nice to read fellow F8x owners and their perspective on the X3 M40i. I too unloaded my M4 and M3, for AWD capabilities, but with a Jag F-Type Coupe R. Thinking about the X3 M40i for my wife in place of her '15 X5 35i with MPPK/MPE. Although I'm torn about the upcoming X3M and I have to say the spy pics of the new X5 look promising.

Lucas, if you are in Montreal, the wait should be shorter than other parts of QC and eastern ON. The cars are shipped by rail to the yard at St Laurent then trucked to the dealers.
I checked my paperwork on an X5 and it was 26 days from production to delivery to the dealer, (including Christmas and Boxing Day). |

While Canadian customers do not have access to the production tracker (not that it seems to be very accurate) we do have access to the carrier's tracker. Your dealer should be able to provide you with the link and car number for that once the car has been loaded. |

No wait, walked into my local dealer and bought it after some fairly extensive test drives back to back with an M3. Also, last I looked there were more than enough available at dealers across the US to satisfy any specific desires on color or equipment. Most dealers only have 1 or 2, but there are a lot of them on the ground right now. About half the dealers close to me have at least one in stock.

The dealer I went into this weekend had one, and they said they weren’t even allowed to sell it because it was needed/designated as a demo car. I’ve got one on order, but I had just casually asked if someone had ordered it or if it was available.

My dealer said they weren't supposed to sell it either, but I have bought a lot of cars from them so I got it a few days early.

With my previous X3 I had to call BMW NA at 1-800-831-1117 then choose the Build Status option to get your build status.
Does BMW still offer the option to get a video of your X3 getting built? I remember US having that option back in 2012. |

My X3 M40i arrived at my dealer last Friday. It started production 2 weeks before that. I live in New Hampshire.
