Rep Wheels
Well I have been looking around for a set of new wheels for the summer for the X3.
Currently I have the 369M wheels for the summer and a set of the 307 wheels for winter. But both sets are getting to the point where they need new tires. Now I have a set of fairly new winters that can go on the 369 wheels, but that means I need something new for the summer. Thats where these rep wheels enter. I have been looking around for used wheels for a little while since I dont want to spend a fortune on wheels (I have another car that is already my money pit project). I came across these and have been considering getting them. The price is pretty good and then i can get a set of summer tires mounted on them. Just thought i would see peoples thoughts here on rep wheels and if there is anything to worry about. These are the 2 options that I like that they have. If these were going on a track car i would look past them, but for daily driver duty I am wondering if they would be fine. |

Thought you said you HAD a set for winter and summer that need new tires?
??? So are you going for a 3rd set of wheels and tires to avoid replacing tires on the 1st or 2nd set ? I've always had a set for winter and summer, and went with ugly, inexpensive wheels for the winter tire set. Those pix are nice looking wheels ???? each $$ ?

Lol so its complicated i guess. I have a set of 18's right now with winter tires, and a set of 19's with summer tires. Both are going to need tires soon. So what i was thinking of doing is selling the 18's, and putting a set of winter tires that i have on my 19's. Then for summer, getting the new set(one of the 2 pictured above) and putting summer tires on them. As for price for them i think they are under 1k CDN, which is really nice.

Have you checked out the cost of winter tyres on the 19s?
Here in the uk my 19" rears would have been £700 EACH - ended up buying a 2nd hand set of 18"s in a square setup for £800 with a decent amount of tread from a dealer. No idea how things work in Canada but here in the uk insurance companies would be gouging you for having none "standard" wheels. I just about get away with BMW 18s with a decent insurer. |

I love the 437M reps(top pic) and have considered buying them myself. I don't have personal experience with replicas but a friend of mine has run three different sets. They won't be awesome and strong forged wheels but as long as you don't abuse them I doubt you will have any issues with cracking/bending as some people will swear you will deal with. I think that is inevitable for most wheels. My buddy has had to replace two 20" 7 series oem wheels due to bending after hitting a big pothole.
I wish a rep of the 310M wheels were made. I think those would look better on an X3. Just my opinion though. |
