Hiya. Just a update. As I had to wait six months for my replacement alloys, as a goodwill gesture I have received a voucher to the value of £500, to spend as and when I please at dealership. Or put towards my next vehicle. X4M springs to mind.

Hi Nyalpine 90. Glad to hear you had new alloys fitted, worth they wait in the end. Any sign of a goodwill gesture from dealer. Or have I just been lucky with mine

Faulty alloys
Delivery of X4 Xline in March 2015, already on second set of wheels, after first set corroded, in just 11 months, eventually second set fitted, this time 6 months in, and signs of corrosion again.. I personally feel the paint finish of the wheels is poor, and especially in the wheel nut area, and if the paint finish is poor then the life span of the wheels is reduced before they corrode, second set of wheels within 2 years, I would say is a good indicator, but BMW UK says take it to local dealer, local dealer does there bit, sends it to BMW UK, they say nothing wrong.. to make it worse, Peugeot, Citroen, Jaguar, Mercedes are all able to deliver this same finish of wheel and to a standard that you'd expect... 8 months complaining, and got nowhere... is it wrong to expect the wheels to last above 12months..

I have the same issue. My dealership at Boston said its not their responsibility and these wheels will corrode over time.

After having my new wheels for six months, had to have one replaced still under warranty. no problem at all with dealer. (Stratstone) Was told any more problems just call in and will still be replaced under warranty still valid till sept 17. I would just go back to dealer as yours is a younger car than mine and they should still be under warranty. Don't take any crap for sub standard parts and service, which you payed your hard earned cash for. Keep updated.

I had one of mine 310:s replaced under warranty some months ago - minor creep corrossion in center. 2 years old.
Obviously this is a difficult area for supplier - suppliers? -but BMW is aware of problem - and will replace rims - supplier will pay. "Wheels will corrode over time" - bull! Obviously they will - my 9000 rims did start to corrode - after 10 years! In my case at outer rims - polished. Last edited by Tjalle; 03-30-2017 at 11:26 AM.. |
