F30 rear sway bar on F25
Does anybody know if this can be done, or have access to each type of vehicle to scope it out to see if it looks feasible? I'm thinking an H&R or AFe rear bar on my M Sport would be useful to transfer the handling balance a little more rearward and dial out understeer.

I was disappointed with my car: F26, 35i M, 20" RFT, adj. shocks, sport steering, due to: windsensitivity, steering precision, straight ahead stability and steer-into-a-curve.
It was not as good as my 1997 9000 Turbo, 340.000km, with 18" wheels. After lowering with H&R (35mm - 1 1/2"), I got all above characteristics improved, but had to pay with somewhat less chassis comfort. I have tested X4 M40i and felt that it had about same handling characteristics as my vehicle - but STD ride height. Even if it is physically possibel to change rear swaybar, it is unlikely that you will get exactly what you are looking for. |

Well, it looks like the OEM non-sports bar is 18.5mm, while the EDC or sports suspension bar is 20.5mm. So, no upgrade to be had with the H&R 20mm bar even if it did fit. Possibly with the 29mm AFe bar, but it's tubular, so it's not a direct comparison. It is adjustable, so potentially the shorter lever arm settings could increase roll stiffness at the rear.

If you don't have the sport suspension (like me) I'm seriously thinking about buying the OEM sport sway bars (F&R) and giving them a try. Then, if I want to tighten things up a little more, going with the H&R springs, like Tjalle. |

I think the X4 m40i has upgraded swaybars. Perhaps that may provide the upgrade you desire? That is if they're a direct bolt-on.

I believe that M40i has new swaybars AND new shocks.
I happened to stumble on a very successful solution while not being happy with my handling. Why not copy? I bought H&R from a German H&R dealer - not the manufacturer. $200 delievered at my door. Apart from performance, it also adds to the looks. With the risk of beeing accused of multiple shows of my car - here it is again. |

The X4 sways are the same diameter as the X3. If I were going to change springs, I'd be more inclined to go with the Eibach Pro Lift Kit springs. Lift is 30mm, while being stiffer than the stock spring rate.
DreamingX3, my X3 M Sport has the EDC suspension. I wish it were valved a little stiffer at all settings, but I do enjoy the overall ride quality and handling of the dampers. |

KW makes a suspension kit for the F25 interested to see of it solves the under steer and body roll, any guess or experience?

Thinking about it... $140 for OEM sport suspension sway bar is cheap deal!

Is that a stock part that comes on cars with the M package or is that an 'aftermarket' part?

I have the sport delete, so I'm going to upgrade to the 20.5mm eventually to see if it works out the understeer feeling.

The only way to remove the sluggish understeer is to change out the sway bars, which nobody makes them for the F25. The OEM 20.5mm old sport rear bar MIGHT fit a modern F25, but nobody has confirmed. A 2mm upgrade rear bar will not remove all of the understeer, but it would be a noticeable improvement over the 18mm unit.
Changing out shocks, springs does not remove understeer. |

I wonder if subframe needs to be dropped in the rear to remove the sway bar

If you have to do any major work to install the sway bar I wouldn't bother. It's still an OEM sway bar and it's still going to have understeer dialed in to it's design for safety. If it's something you can do for $100 in your garage in 2 hours? Sure.. but don't go about paying a shop $1000 to install an OEM sway bar that's 2mm bigger and still designed for understeer you'll be highly disappointed you wasted $1000 for basically nothing.
Also, you'll want to install both the front and rear sport suspension sway bars if the front is also different otherwise the handling will be even worse or even flat out dangerous. Last edited by Riick; 11-26-2018 at 10:36 AM.. |

So much misinformation. I’m glad someone posted actual links with actual real expectations, vs if you do that, it won’t make a difference and your car will explode. Smh
