Help deciding between X3 and GLC
Hey, so I know the new X3 is coming out next year. However, I never buy a car brand new to avoid the big first chunk of depreciation. I'm currently driving a 2011 BMW 328i but need something easier to get in and out of because of my back. Do you think it will be easier to obtain a good deal on a lightly used 2017 next summer?
I'm struggling with this because I know that the F25 probably has more issues worked out in the last model year, but the car looks so dated to me now. I drove the Mercedes Benz GLC 300 the other day and it felt so much more modern, not considering how much better iDrive is. The Mercedes is really new though, and I keep my cars for a while so reliability is a concern. Are the issues with the N20 engine fixed now? I need some recommendations from some X3 owners here. |

35i owner here, car is great and I've had no major issues. I have a bias but I recommend the 2017 X3. As you mentioned, all the kinks and problems should be worked out since its the last model year in its life cycle. If you are planning to buy slightly used you will have some remainder of the (cost free) factory warranty to take care of any concerns you have.

I think you should get the 35i X3 a few years old. New car prices now are pretty high, I could never fathom buying a brand new X3 for the sticker price of $50-60k. I guess that's why the majority lease their vehicles now. But, That is just financially irresponsible in my opinion, but if that's what you want to spend your money on, it's your decision. I plan on keeping my '12 X3 for at least 4-5 more years, then maybe a used Macan S / Turbo, if it dies.

I want a 2017 because it has idrive 5. I'd be purchasing a CPO loaner or some other low mileage example, but certainly not new. My closest dealer has 2017 X3s with nav and pano roof for 29k. Only 7k miles as well. |

Does it have premium package? If it doesn't, I will not buy it if I am you. Not because I value premium package alot, but it is so important to other buyers. If it doesn't have it, you will have a hard time to sell it. I have seen one without Premium package cannot be sold on craiglists for 2 months although the seller list the car $4000 below blue book price. |

Forgot to tell you that the seller is a salesperson in a BMW dealer. I was so surprise why he tried to sell his own car so cheap. But in the last minute, I decided not to buy it. If the BMW salesperson has a hard time to sell his own BMW without premium package, I don't think I can sell it neither in the future.
