2015 X3 Fell Off the Train?
So I got a call from BMW today saying the 2015 x35i X3 I ordered fell off the train (?) and sustained more than 3% damage which must be now sold as used. The car was supposed to be delivered next week. They are still trying to confirm that the car in question is actually mine, but he went ahead and ordered a new X3 just in case. But the clock starts all over again...

Is there really reason to doubt the dealer? They didn't ever require a deposit on the pre-order. If they don't have a car, they don't get paid.

BUT if the dealer set an expectation of delivery, then they should be pushing for early delivery on a replacement. If you don't mind the wait then fine.

Sh*t happens, I certainly wouldn't hold the dealer responsible. It didn't happen on their watch. That said....if they could attempt to expedite thru the plant, that would be good customer service.

I requested an expedited delivery. The dealer said BMW does not have any provision to speed up deliveries.

If you have a lease that was coming due that this was to replace then they may be able to assist with a loaner (or just holding your current vehicle) until the new one arrives.
Or take a look at the "used" car as delivered......same warranty, should be a good discount. |

Slight update. Apparently something broke loose enroute on the train and caused "considerable damage" to 10 vehicles on the car. They are not even going to bring the car up north from SoCal because of the extent of the damage.
But...my new X3 went into production today. No rush according to BMW. |

No pictures, but the report is that both bumpers and the tailgate need to be replaced. I'm guessing it came loose on the train and repeatedly smashed into the cars in front and rear as the train sped up and slowed down.
