Receiving the following message
Wife calls me at work to tell me that the a/c is not working properly (great- it's only 97 degrees here) and that there is a message stating the following:
"Battery discharging while stopped. Electrical devices temporarily shut off." Anyone else ever get this message? If so, what was the diagnosis? Thanks |

Don't worry about it... The battery may be a bit low. Just go for a 5min drive.

Just spoke with the SA and the battery is weak. Too weak to do a diagnosis so it's being recharged. Hopefully, in 1 hour they can start to see what the problem is. He's blaming it on the short trips I take in the morning to the park/ride. I think it's BS.

I got the same message when my X3 was quite new last year but I just took a short trip to recharge the battery and haven't seen this msg after that. But I got an x-drive error message a few months later after having the car parked for a couple of weeks. It dissappeared after short trip but I asked my dealer about it anyway. The explanation was that low battery levels may trigger a number of different error msgs but a short charge should help. I haven't had any simiar msgs since then so it seems correct.
It seems that different and seemingly non-related warnings may kick in when the battery level gets a bit low but a quick charge will correct it right away. |

I just had the same problem today.
The battery was already recharged just one week ago. The BMW service centre here concluded that the battery need to be replaced. Seems too soon for the battery to die after just 1 year and and 8 months. I am wondering if the plugin iPod is the culprit??? |

That's complete bull. How does he explain driving in the city? My commute is less than two stop-and-go miles.
