You can code the car to remember last setting.

Help with Coding Options
Hi All,
Have been trying, without success, to enable the opening of the tailgate while the vehicle is locked. I have asked BMW and they claim this has been deliberately 'written out of the software' to prevent people from locking their key in the car. This only applies to vehicles without Comfort Access. I'm assuming that when they say written out of the software, they mean simply disabled. I've gone through the HU_CICHB unit and have found several possible settings in the 3000 HMI,78 folder. I've attached screenshots of the ones I feel are relevant. Can anyone advise if changing any of these to active would help? Also, although I don't have CA, what would happen if I enabled it anyway? As vehicles with CA CAN open their tailgate when locked I thought this might be a workaround. However I don't want to corrupt anything by enabling something which my vehicle simply doesn't have. Any pointers would be helpful. |

You have accomplished what I want to do. What psdzdata file did you use? I have version 4.75 running with E-sys 2.18.4. Don't have my cable yet. Thanks, ERK |

Finally got around coding. Pretty neat stuff
Anyone know the complete strings for activating the Speed Limit Info and the BMW Live? I've seen lots of bits and pieces but not the complete list. Thanks |

Yes - cool animated road and spinning M logo onto the idrive screen at startup.

Crazy question (as I know nothing about coding), but any way to code the steering wheel track selection wheel to do next/prev song (or something similar)?
I find it very frustrating that there is no simple "next song" button on the steering wheel. (And that you have to right over and press next by the CD slot) |

Now I have not actually tried this on a real CD. I think it oughta work the same. I'll try it this afternoon. I've ripped all my CDs to my hard drive and then copied them onto a 16 GB USB drive. No CDs to chase when they fall on the floor and slide under the seat What vehicle and options do you have?

However I have not found a way to fast forward with the scroll wheel. That one requires a reach across and holding down the FF button.

That's cool roadkillrob.
What I'd prefer is a more subtile ///M Performance in the digital display. Unfortunately there is no option to change the logo... I wonder if the folder could be added some way (similar to windows regedit).

That would be my guess, you have to have the NBT that has the firmware that includes the logo. The X3 has a completely different cluster it appears, so doesn't even have the option at all.

My experience is that you can't just simply go "next" when you have random turned on.
