Lumbar support has no memory?
I find this really weird. I had an '06 325i with the Sport Packaga and sport seats with lumbar. When I set the lumbar in my drivers seat, it stayed in memory, much like the seat and back rest positions. In my 2013 X3, the lumbar resets when I shut the car off. I have to reset it every time I get in the car. That seems really odd to me. Why would BMW take the "memory" feature away from the lumbar? I asked my service manager and he said that the X3 is the only one that he, and the shop manager, can tell does not have a "memory". I just find that hard to believe. Can anyone tell me if they have had the same problem?

Hmmm, I didn't think it reset but just stayed in the last position set manually (i.e. the lumbar setting when programming seat memory 1/2 was not recalled later from memory). Maybe I'm wrong and it goes to some 'default' position? Is that what you mean by 'reset'?

My 325i's lumbar would stay in the last position. I set it once and never had to reset it. The X3 does not stay in the position that I set it. It goes back to what I assume is a neutral or default position.

2013 X3 doesn't have memory 1 and memory 2 for lumbar support, but it does stay at the same setting it was last adjusted to. It doesn't revert to a default setting when one turns the engine off.
Memory 1 and memory 2 will save separate settings for side view mirrors and up/down/forward/back for driver's seat. Can't have separate settings for lumbar or side bolsters.

Because the X3 is BMW'd value SUV that has a whole number of features not available even as option (and even though it costs EUR80k and more in Euroland). And because in principal the integration of optional electric and electronic features is lackadaisical in that vehicle.

My lumbar stays exactly where it was and doesn't change unless I personally change it. Sounds like something is wrong with your X.

Much appreciated guys. Thanks for the feedback. I know that I wasn't crazy and that this had to be a problem, despite what my service advisor says.

Maybe just a software tweak/reset (but not sure why it would be different than anyone else). Perhaps there's a setting in coding.
