Swapping out runflats at order/delivery?
Anyone had any luck requesting all seasons instead of the run flats? Going m package, would prefer to get all seasons out of the gate vs the standard runflats. Sure I can ask my dealer but would like to know if anyone has done this already, either at order or delivery, and how.

I think you are confused between run flats and non run flats and the different types of tires you can get. All BMWs get run flats but there are three different types of tires. Winter, Summer, and All seasons. In DC we have all seasons and I think that is the same for most of the east coast. Hope that helps

Not, confused, sorry not communicating well I guess. I don't want run flats, period. Want standard all season tires instead of runflats of any kind that come on the car.

I doubt a dealer would do it (for liability reasons) but I could be wrong.

Obviously from my location I don't know what the situation is in the Sates, but here in Australia the dealers are "legally obliged" to deliver the car with runflats. In my case I negotiated with a local tyre retailer to swap over the tyres (from runflats to conventional) on delivery. However my salesman did actually provide the contact details of the tyre shop.

Has anyone ever done a survey on what tyres are standard for each region. I live in the South of England and my car came with 17" Dunlop Sports Maxx as standard fit. I presume Canada/ anywhere with regular winter snow will get All Season tyres as standard.
I've asked this before but I presume no one can spec the factory fit tyre type on a new order- BMW must have standard tyre tyres for each region they sell to. i.e. I couldn't ask for All Season tyres on a new UK order, even though the tyres are available on the production line. |

I donno, many people here opt for dedicated winter tyres as 'all season' tyres are often referred to as 'no season's tyres. All season's traction is significantly reduced at 7c.
But to answer your question, my car did come with all seasons. Quote:

Has anyone done an objective test with Runflats vs. non Runflats
with the same brand and type {Summer, or All Season} of tire? Like Pirelli P-Zero RFs vs Pzero non RFs? I wonder if the difference is all that perceivable. That said, getting a flat with Non Runflats and no spare could truly suck. I wish BMW would make the space for a doughnut which I'd gladly pay for as i've been in the middle of no where way more than 150 miles from anything close to a tire shop or any kind of service. |

I was having a dig around the other day to find out more about RFT's and came across this website:
http://www.blackboots.co.uk/bmw-run-flat-problems.php Can't validate any of this personally and it seems a little out of date (stating that the X3 does not have the RFT's! ) - but fairly interesting read all the same.

I've also been interested in switching to non-RF when the time comes to replace tires. The dealer also told me (when trying to push tire insurance) that I had to replace the tires on the X3 with RF tires because of suspension settings, etc.
I changed to non-RF on the e90 and it made a world of difference - much better ride, quieter, etc. I think most people on other forums will tell you the same thing. However, I havent heard much on people making the switch on the F25... yet. |

I think it really depends on the person. My X3 came with 19" all season run flat tires but I recently installed a set of 18" non-run flat winter tires and I didn't really notice any difference in ride stiffness. The only reason I when with non-run flats for winter tires is there is a much better selection of tires.
