iphone 5 compatibility
I had an iPhone 4 and an x3 with compatibility that worked just fine. I got the new iPhone a while back and have been using mainly bluetooth to stream music/podcasts.
Today, I plugged it in via the lightning cable into the USB jack in the center console. Tried to do both music and BMW apps. Music was accessible through the iDrive interface, but played through the iPhone speakers. Same with web radio in BMW apps. Is this known? Is there a fix? Thanks! |

Maybe try updating your iDrive software? I use my iPhone 5 plugged in through USB quite often and I've never run into that issue, but I just updated mine not long ago.

Could be something to do with the fact you had it paired for BT audio and then switched. Was the charge low when you switched? I get strange behaviour when the iPhone 5 is on low charge

You should not have any issues with Bluetooth. You can get audio also thru the lightening g cable. Only restriction is in video display as the video signals out if the lightening cable are no more analog. You can get the video too if you buy lightening v to 30pin adapter and use old cable.

Just got an iphone5 this week. I used the lightning/USB cable that came with the phone in the armrest USB port. Everything works perfectly and I get all audio functions and album covers too. Save your money on trying to get a Y cable - you do not need it. This is in a 2013 F25 328i.

I had the same issue w/ the music playing from the iphone speakers even though the iphone was successfully paired w/ the bmw via BT and configured properly. I restarted the phone and everything worked perfectly.

iPhone 5 and Static/ Crackling
Have any of you noticed static when using your iPhone 5 in the X3? On the Mac forum, this is a problem with many folks and NOT restricted to BMW

I recently purchased a CPO 2007 X3. My wife's iPhone 4S pairs just fine. My iPhone 5 is not even recognized by the car, no pairing or even sensing of the Bluetooth signal. No Nav in the X3. Thoughts?

iPhone 5 and Static
YES! I have noticed static (i.e., crackling) when I purchased my iPhone 5 last year. However, and this is the interesting thing: the iPhone 5 ONLY makes crackling sounds when the battery is fully or almost charged , >95%. If I let the iPhone battery wear down to say, <85% - NO PROBLEMS what-so-ever.
Interesting and can't figure this out... posted this situation a while back but no one could diagnose. |
