My new 20d MSport Manual
After what seems like an eternity (well, 9 weeks) finally picked up my new car today. Have only driven a few miles in it, but I can already tell I'm going to like it a lot.
First observation is that the manual gearbox is absolutely fine; I was worried that the offset pedals would be a problem, but I haven't really noticed anything. The car replaced an E83 X3 and I would say that things are about the same. A friend drove the car and when I asked what he thought of the offset, he said he didn't notice it! Love the sunroof - so glad I went for this as it really lightens up the interior. The Professional sound system is also really good, but I'm going to have to spent a bit of time fiddling with it to get the settings just right. I didn't get either sat nav option, so I've got the cheaper iDrive that's new for 2013. Bit disappointed at first, but having played with it I really like it. The other thing is that it doesn't have a non functioning 'NAV' button to remind me that I've been a cheapskate. Anyway, I'll stop babbling on and let the pictures speak for themselves And finally, with the car it replaced. I sold my old X3 to my brother as it was such a good car. Hope nothing goes wrong with it!

Congrats. Looks fantastic. Love the M Sports in white and black. Keep it looking that good
Totally agree on the sunroof. Wasn't sure if it was worth the cost but makes such a huge difference to the light inside the car and 100% glad I opted for one

Very nice, indeed! You'll love the new X3. It is good to see someone going from the previous generation to the new one. I sold my E46 wagon to a family member and they have been thrilled with the car.

In the US manual transmission cars or SUVs are almost impossible to find - that and diesel would have been our first choice. My wife and I still are not used to driving an automatic, and we don't appreciate the constant auto shifting at awkward times.
But what kind of MPG do you get? (and is this imperial gallons) Or maybe l/km and I can convert. Here the price of diesel is about the same as gasoline, but diesel should get about 25% better mileage, I'm just wondering if the manual makes much difference. Thanks. |

Thanks for the comments, really enjoying the new car (good job really, considering how much it cost me).
It's too early to say about fuel consumption as I've only done 100 miles or so, but it's already showing 31.5mpg on the computer. I'd expect it to settle at around 38-40mpg once it's fully run in. rd450, I took a few pictures of the gearstick, and feel that this is probably the best to get an idea of how it looks. Let me know if you want to see any more. BondE87, here's a picture of the exhaust trim. I'd go for it if I was you - finishes things off nicely.

Sorry, I've been away on business this week so I've not been able to take a picture from above as requested. I'll do it at the weekend and post it on here.
