Should I be disappointed in the performances of my 35D?
Recently I was driving 130km/h on the highway and suddenly a bmw 520d came passed me at large speed. But a little further, he had to brake and slow down because of a van. I swithed to the same lane and kept 50m distance. And when the van moved to another lane; we both acceleted from 130km/h until 210km/h. Allthough it were just a few seconds; I couldn't get any closer to the other 520d.
I expected that a 313hp x3 would have a better throttle than a 520d (normally 163hp or 184hp). Or do I expect too much? Has anybody the same expierence? |

210km/h - the joys of the autobahn! Wait. You were over the border, right?!
Maybe it was a chipped 520d and he caught you on the hop...

Get to know the BMW exhausts, unbadged/re-badged cars don't usually change the exhaust which is a dead give away to the engine.
A 'normal' 520 wouldn't look at your 35d

Well I have a 35d and drive between Zurich and Stuttgart quite often and have never had that problem. You might want to have your 35d checked/tested.
Also, as mentioned, check the exhaust, some people have them replaced and have their car un/re-badged such as I did - as far as anyone is concerned, I could have a 35i, 28i, 30d or 35d. BTW, just this morning, I passed with my second car, a Nissan Note 1.6, the driver of a 320d who was screwing around, blocking and just being annoying. Trust me, I do know that a 320d is faster than a Note but he underestimated me, and I was in the right gear. It was just too late for him but it had the beneficial effect of calming him down (that seams to always happen). Seriously, the 35d is quick enough. |
