Operating the tailgate from the inside
I found the out of the way button to open the electric tailgate, but haven't been able to figure out how to close it. Don't know if it's possible.

I guess you guys are not talking about the switch on the tailgate itself
Found it in the beginning also weird why one cannot close the tailgate with the same switch on the dash (or with the remote control), but on the other hand, it makes sense to have someone push the button on the tailgate to close it... security etc... and, why open the tailgate if there is nobody standing behind it to load/off load? |

I believe this functionality is activated in Europe. NA-spec cars have this deactivated for legal reasons. A parent could easily step on the tailgate button in the footwell while his or her child is putting his backpack in the trunk, closing it on his head and effectively injuring him.
I call bullshit, but I don't like children anyways... |

At least I'm not the only one that was wanting to close the gate remotely. I find it not always convenient to have to double back to close that rear hatch. Hard to imagine that it is different for the europeans because of some safety concern.

It was worth it for me as I was able to disable start/stop as well as the interior opening function for the boot. |

What would the safety concern be, anyway? Is smacking some unaware person on closing somehow worse than smacking an unaware person on the opening?
Perhaps there should be a speaker back there. "Please step away from the car. Door closing. Please step away from the car." And similar for opening. For the passenger doors too on the first pull of the handle? For the turn signal? "Please advise your presence on the left side of the vehicle, the driver has indicated via the turn signal intent to navigate toward the left."
