Control Display Turns Off
I've noticed as of late my control display (mileage, time, etc) turns off automatically during the driving mode. Not sure what I do to make this happen but is it a common issue? Maybe I am pressing something i am not supposed to lol

The control display is in the center of the dash. You're talking about the one in the middle of the instrument cluster, yes? It's possible to set it to a blank screen using the button on the end of the turn signal stalk. Have you tried pressing that to select the info you want? Still blanking? Only when in Drive?

What small button?

When pressed that cycles through the display options you have selected in iDrive under "Control Display" settings. If it still blanks out then you likely have a fault which the dealer will need to fix. |

Had a similar problem today.
Pressed the button to close the rear powerlift - it got part way down then suddenly stopped with warning sounds from the car. Reset that OK by just cycling it but when I restarted the engine the control display was completely blank. Nothing seemed to reset it, idrive, stalk selector, stop & start engine. As I was only a mile from the dealer, I took it straight in so they could see the fault. At first they were unable to get it back but eventually reset it by turning off (double key press) and leaving it for a few minutes. On restart it rebooted and is still working. Booked in tomorrow for a full diagnostic. |

I guess it will be taking out the dash - must admit I have some trepidation. Only had the issue once and almost wish to wait and see if it happens again before having major work done.
Unfortunately the car won't be used for next month as I am out of country so cannot test. I may hold off my "return" to see if the issue returns. Has anyone else noticed any occasional fault? |
