Aftermarket Exhausts?
Were there any aftermarket exhausts for the old X3's?
Anyone know if there are plans from any manufacturers to make some? |

I am also interested in this. I know Dinan made one for the E83 but have not said anything about the F25 yet. Let me know if you find anything out.

AC Schnitzer has a full upgrade package for the X3, but I'm not sure if you can purchase the exhaust system alone...or if the package is even available yet.

If Schnitzer makes it, it'll be expensive. I priced out some of their non-forged Type VIII wheels and they wanted $3,300!

Nothing out on market yet. I doubt there will be much for support on this.
Those with the N55 will be able to benefit from the FlapCan available on the JB stage 2 tune when it comes out. Makes it sound deeper...

If Dinan made performance products for the E83, I think we will definitely see products for the F25, as the turbo is much easier to get gains from than the naturally aspirated inline 6. I would think things would start trickling out as products come out for the 335 and 535.

its not.. the minute you look under your x3, you'll see the tube right beside the muffler.

"Golf Tee Mod"
Instead of messing with the vacuum line you can also just unplug the solenoid cable in the cargo area like the 335i guys do. This is what we did to our cars.
Just pull on the handle that removes the rear carpeted panel area behind the driver's side tail light (where the amp is located), you will see the solenoid and ECU cable directly behind and below the tail light, unplug it and enjoy. Plug it back in before service. 335i DIY same as X3: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80661 |

ah, hahaha. That was great!
You can avoid the EPA agents wearing dark glasses if you wear a protective tinfoil hat while doing the mod. Quote:

It is a little more noticible on the the 335i and have driven it this way for 15,000 miles. Honestly, it will throw a shadow code - but no SES lights or CEL's in the dash to worry about. The dealer will not hassle you about this. And if they do decide to be tight asses, a mysteriously disconnected or "loose" cable would be easier to explain than a broken off golf tee or too small of a bearing lost in your vaccum line Last edited by drmdvl; 01-09-2012 at 10:52 AM.. |

Going to try it out when I get my X3 back too. Talked to the mechanics at my Dealership. It wont make a difference with warranty they say. The only thing is that it might take longer to warm up as it closes the flap in the second pipe when the engine is cool.

So I tried this and it didn't seem to do much. I barely notice anything. Maybe it's because I tend to drive a bit harder so I'm not in the low range very often. The only truly discernible difference is that now I can no longer hear the valve opening at 3000 RPMs, nor can I hear it when I shut off the car.

I tried it also, and noticed a slightly deeper/louder sound at start up. Slightly louder around town in lower rev which makes sense since it would open at full throttle before. I like the "slightly" louder sound.
