Re: 2012 BMW X3 Changes Pricing list
Are these pricing options from a valid source meaning an actual BMW bulletin? I ordered a 2011 X28 with lots of features in it. Now with the new X35 packages including comfort access and auto lift tailgate in premium, and not being able to get stand alone heated steering I am thinking it might be worth it to upgrade to the X35. Thoughts? Can anyone figure out the price difference?
Also, if your car was not ordered yet for 2011, you should be able to switch to 2012 I would think. |

Is the invoice price list available yet? If so, can someone post? Thanks!

Increased power in X3 28i for 2012?
According to this http://www.viddler.com/explore/bmwoftonka/videos/31/
the 2012 X3 28i will have 268 horsepower, versus the current 240. I wonder if that's true? |

After that, it sounds like the new I4 turbo should either come mid year (not sure if they would call it a 2012 still or a 2013) or they might even wait until fall 2012 to change it. But it will not have 268 horsepower, this engine has been confirmed at 245 I think, they wouldn't make the 28i that close in power to the 35i especially since it will weigh less. Now you could probably easily tune it to get 270+ HP if you want to chance voiding your warranty. I have just decided to wait until 2013 models to buy our X3, not that the 35i is a bad option, its a great engine, but I am more intrigued by the fuel effeciency of the new 28i, or the power and effeciency of the 35d when we finally get it. Or we might just go balls out and get the X3M, if its $65K or less fully loaded, I am hoping with a i6 it will be as I can't see paying more than that for an inline 6 engine |

I think the European version of the 3.0 liter has had 260-270 horsepower for a few years and direct injection alone would do that. My 2007 X3 had either 255 or 260 HP and then they dumbed it down for 2011 to 240. The reason I bought a 2007 X3 was the additional HP after owning a 2004 X3 which either had 230 or 240 HP. It doesn't matter because we will get the N20 which I'd rather have for the torque and mpg's anyway.

rumors from BMW have been 15-20% better than last 28i engine, so 22/29 is more towards the 15% increase, 23/30 would be even better if its closer to a 20% increase. but your options will now be (only options in the US right now): 28i: 22/29 (or 23/30) MPG 0-60 ~6.3 seconds 35i: 19/26 MPG 0-60 5.5 seconds makes it a lot tougher of a decision, loaded the same way I think the 28i will save you $3200 or so. for 2011 you just had to look at price to power because MPG was the same, now you have to look at MPG savings as well, if you drive 12,000 miles per year and get 25 mpg with the 28i vs 22 mpg with the 35i, thats $275 extra per year in gas at current US prices, $1100 over 4 years, so now the cost difference is $4300 between the two engines and their 0-60 times is closer than before. |

If anybody interested, I Just spoke with a dealer and he said the production of 2012 start on September 11, 2012 I wonder when will they update the site to 2012, because they don't even take orders for 20111 anymore.

Great details and THANKS for sharing. I have been looking high and low to find how to order Xenon headlights and lo-and-behold they are standard on 35i.

More Power for the 2012 X3 28i.
Quote:
When I ordered a 2012 X3 28i for my wife the day before yesterday, I was told it would still be the 240 hp six cylinder. I have since confirmed (via a different dealer and via BMW Customer Service) that the 2012 X3 28i will come with a 4-cylinder turbocharged engine developing 268 horsepower. Yes, I said the 2012 model not 2013! With that much power in the 28i, maybe they'll have to up the hp a bit on the 35i? Just a guess - I didn't ask about the 35i. |

Well if that's the case its the best kept secret in the world. My dealer knows I will place an order the minute the N20 is launched in the X3 and they have not called. I sure hope you are right but I definitely do not believe the HP number. I think someone maybe got the torque and HP confused if it is coming.
