Hey guys, unfortunately for me I got into an accident last night. I rear ended a car in front of me. The body shop I deal with is closed for 2 weeks, but I'm just concerned because I have 2 wires dangling from the bumper and I am not sure they are weather proof. It's probably for the park assist.
But does anyone know if I am safe to drive the car if it rains if they are in the open? I'll post pics and maybe someone can offer advice. On the first pic, you can see the wires a bit better, they are on the right and left part of the bumper. |

Pics aren't showing up. Sorry about the accident - does your dealer have a recommendation for another body shop? Could you cover the wires in a plastic bag and tape it out of sight until it gets fixed?

I would need 3 parts. The top of the hood, right where the grill is, is bent in and needs to be repainted. The actual mid bumper is dented on the right, there is a indent you can kind of see on the 2nd pic. Also some random other dents on the mid (non plastic bumpber). Then I'll need a new piece of black, I think some of the connections that attach it to the bumper are broken.
I guess I'm going to be working the next 2 weeks trying to pay this off... I'm going to use electrical tape to cover the wires. Think that would be the best thing. Last edited by mtlcruisin; 07-29-2011 at 10:37 AM.. |

Good luck and hope you don't have too long a wait for the replacement parts. Even if your preferred body shop is currently closed, you may want to contact your BMW dealer to get a head start on the parts ordering process. Last edited by Lotus7; 07-29-2011 at 11:43 AM.. |

well I had to claim this on insurance. So the total cost of damages were $6200 just on my car, off an 8-10km bump in with a GM suv. The other damage to the trunk of the other vehicle was $350 for 2 bumps to take out and repaint that area.
I never knew how poorly made the front of our cars are, the hood, pushed in very very slightly but that caused both brackets for the headlights to break. And each one is $1700. I really can't believe how weak the front of our cars are, and the fact that there is no way to repair a broken headlight bracket. Granted I don't want to get into accidents, but they do happen and at under 10km an hour to do that much damage is a bit crazy. |
