Just ordered.... now the wait
Just ordered an X3. I'm told it'll start building in the next week or so.
I'm hopeful that I won't miss the looks, handling, and performance of my current lease: 2010 335i MSport / RWD / 6MT. I ordered the Dynamic Handling on the X3 to try and replicate some sort of sport sedan feel to the X3. I do, however, look forward to more room in the trunk area and a bit more room in the backseat for the kids. We'll see how this SAV thing works out! Details: White/Mojave/3.5/PremiumSound/DHP/SAP/NAV/CWP and dealer-installed tow package.

I am very happy with my first BMW. Next one may replace my 07 TL-S. An M3 maybe...

When you put it in sport mode you're reminded that it sure is a bmw

Congrats on the new X3 -- you'll love it! I went from an E90 335 to the X3 and have never looked back. Sure, the X3 is not a sedan, so handing is a bit different. However, the added space, increased visibility, excellent ride and AWD are a great combination. You'll be happy and your family will thank you!
DHP is an excellent choice and makes an already versatile vehicle even more so. When you are feeling 'E90'ish', just throw it into Sport or Sport+... |

Thanks guys.
I had a loaner X3 a few months ago and never considered buying one until I spent a day with one. I think the utility of it combined with a fairly hefty dose of sportiness will keep me satisfied. I'll go back to the sedan (or coupe!) when I'm older and not driving kids around and hauling equipment around for work. Until then, I'll hereby be known as the "soccer dad" that hauls kids, hauls gear, and hauls a$$.

Oh... and to those of you in Europe waiting for your X3 to cross the pond.... I feel your pain. I think it was about 90 days for my E90 to get here.
Delayed gratification makes the delivery that much sweeter!

Congrats! You and I have a similar build-down to the ext/int colors. We opted to pass on the DHP though. Our other car is a 335i, so when I get the itch for a more spirited drive, I still have options. =)
That being said, putting the X3 in Sport/Sport+ really does tighten things up a bit even without DHP. Anyway, the wait goes faster than you'd think. It's a great car and I have no doubts you made the right choice. Enjoy! |

heh, heh.....That's what I used to say too...
Now I'm 52 and still needed the utility of an SAV..Now to haul around 2 labs totaling 160 lbs, lawn stuff etc...So much for the M3. Now if I didn't have a monster college tab to help a certain off-spring with, I might have that Z3 or Boxster sitting right next to it Quote:

coming from a 335 you made a wise choice getting SAP+DHP. I came from a 328xi and i use sport mode - chasis only 95% of the time

Well, that went fast. About a month after ordering, we picked up the X3 last night. I gotta say, it was VERY tough watching them drive away in my 335i Msport. In fact, my boys cried!
That being said, the X3 is great so far. I'm going to miss the 6MT and that low-slung look of the RWD 335i, but the utility factor of the X3 will hopefully make up for that! I opted for the factory tow hitch, so we'll see how it tows our camper come summer. New on the left, old on the right:

$53,395 to be exact. I skipped Premium Pkg and a few others to *try* and keep the cost down. Somehow, that's a funny statement to me, given that $53,395 is a ton of money for a car!

Congratulations
I ordered my X3 3 weeks ago, and I'm told it will go into production 1st/2nd week of january, then it's the shipping to Norway. ETA should be around mid february, so still around 90 days to get this beauty to Europe :-/ |
