X3M from F85 X5M
Anyone go this route? Nothing wrong with my X5M but was curious if anyone had made the switch and what your thoughts were if so? I like the look and heard one the other day and was thinking if something happened to the F85, I could see myself possibly picking up an X3M. I know it may be a bit smaller, but maybe that’s makes it more fun to drive? Not that the X5 is a slouch!

The X5M is a class higher when it comes to luxury. For performance they will be similar. I’d think for handling the X3M might have the advantage.
Other than that, I’d say the X5M rides better and is way more upscale when it comes down to the interior. Either way, both cars are rockets. |

Hi
I just went from a x6m comp to a x3m comp The x6m was way more comfortable and very quiet on the inside, faster on the take off too. The x3m has a lot of rattles ,it’s smaller ( obviously ), it’s lighter for sure but slower than then x6m. I only did this because i was in the middle of buying a house and the bank didn’t like my x6m car payment lol. |

Also had a x5m f85 a long time ago and I would still choose the x5m over the f97 x3m
X5m was way more comfy As you can see I am leaning towards a bigger car because of our 1 year old baby lol Those are my thoughts |

My buddy has a highly optioned 2015 X5D and it 100% feels more solid than my 2020 X3mc. I can definitely see the styling cues that came from his interior to mine, but the X5 is absolutely 'nicer' IMHO.
I wanted something newer, and I couldn't afford a newer X5M, so I never looked at them seriously. I do have to say, they are so mean looking in all the best ways. |

FWIW,when my current X3MC lease is up next summer I'll be jumping in an LCI X5MC;been shopping the X3 around and only thing that's stopping me at the moment is no 2024 X5MC allocation from my dealer yet

My buddy has an F85 (like the OP is referencing - not an F95) We go back an forth between my F98 Comp all the time. The 2018 X5M feels planted and is quick, but not as fast as my F98. It is slightly larger, interior materials are superior but not overly in my opinion it looks and feels like my 2016 F06 650 which felt dated two years ago.
I have 50K now on my S58 engine I have not had one engine problem. His F85 has had O2 sensor issues, fuel injector issues and two oil leaks. Now if we are talking about the F95 or the F96 that is a whole different animal, but that V8 engine as great as it sounds, and as linear as the power is, has had some issues that worry me. |

But, there have been lots of issue with BMW V8s... seems BMW does better with their V6s for some reason. I had an '08 E70 for 10+ years (while not the TT 4.4L in the F85/95 it was the previous 4.8L NA V8) had oil leaks like crazy, valve stem seals leaked and had to be replaced ($4k) and the vacuum pump was replaced several times. It was a beast but had lots of engine issues after about 50k miles. It was bigger and heavier, not anywhere as fast as our F9x since it was only about 350HP, but the interior was very nice at the time. Repairs on the V8s are also much higher $$s, so keep that in mind if you will be out of warranty. I always told myself if BMW ever makes an X3M, that would be perfect, so I got one, and then moved to an X4 Love my X4MC, perfect size, performance and payment for me

I wouldn't have been able to get the X5M in my garage, hence the X3M. I do love my X3M but I miss some of the creature comforts of an X5 (mainly the auto adjusting steering column). Maybe its time for a bigger garage
