Match UP 7BMW Amp Install

I ordered a Match UP Amp from Crutchfield yesterday. It was open-box which meant is was, all-in about $500 cheaper than a new Bimmertech or Bavasound amp.

I should have the amp Wednesday and will review. For now, the software from Audio-Tec Fischer is straightforward (Windows only), and, on paper, looks good.

The presets are by body-type only, and not "model" specific. ie. All SUVs have a preset. There is not a preset for the X3. I plan to tweak that preset once it is installed - bought a 15' USB cable for the job.

Attached is the spec sheet. The good? Burr Brown A/D and D/A... very good. The (not so) bad? 48kHz sampling rate. huh.... I would've hoped for 96kHz. I'm not sure with all the glass and (especially w/ factory speakers) that I would hear the difference, but generally that sampling rate leap gives you an imaging and clarity "feel" more than an obvious "hear" the difference.

I'm not up on car audio enough to know if the damping factor is anything to brag about these days. Hopefully it is enough to keep bass and mid-range tight.

spec sheet attached.

Do you have iDrive 6 or 7? For iDrive 7 (with a RAM-module) it's not plug and play and you need additional parts.

About the sound files; the reference files are what it's name says! Use this to adjust it until YOU are satisfied!

iDrive 7. Stock HiFi system. If you have parts details, please advise. Crutchfield (on cue) said it had everything that I needed.

Comms w/ Audiotec-Fischer and Crutchfield both ongoing. - will update.

You need an additional MEC-module to get extra channel/line and a different harness. Also you need to create a separate power connection to the car's battery.

All not very complicated, but it helps if you have some experience

for a 2022 hi-fi, I need a MEC module for an additional Analog in?

If so, man - Crutchfield and Audiotec-Fischer need to get their game on and communicate better.

Is this the harness? https://www.crutchfield.com/p_975PPB...MW-1-7RAM.html

Just check the document I've added in my previous post. That's all you need.

I think Crutchfield just checked for a G01 - X3. For the early ones they are right (with iDrive 6). For the 2020-models and up (with iDrive 7) they are not.

But no problem; it's easy to fix and isn't that expensive!

ok - got an email reply from Jason (distributer) today, and as many of you know, this is not even the correct amp for RAM module BMWs. Crutchfield is putting a return-to-sender order on the amp and will refund.

Now I'm back to square one! hahaha...

I've got the doc open. I'll re-boot, get my ducks in a row and start again. Thank you for the info!!!!!!

You need the Match UP 7DSP with MEC analog in module and PP RAM harness. I have this setup currently, with Audison APBMW speakers in the front and rear doors and Earthquake SWS-8Xi 2ohm under seat woofers. Haven’t replaced the center channel yet due to Audison only selling the speakers in pairs.

The Match amps are superior to the Bimmertech and Bavsounds due to the amount of extra power it sends to the under seat subs. All of them are made by Audiotech Fischer but the Match versions send more than double the amount of power to the under seat speakers.

If you want more details, feel free to send PM!

Could I install the MATCH UP 7-DSP with the MEC to my 2021 X3M (676 HK factory system) with RAM module? It appears so.

If so, would I need to replace the factory speakers (with perhaps the Audison versions) or would this MATCH amp work nicely with the factory speakers?

The Match UP 7DSP will work nicely with the factory speakers. You'll get an appreciable boost in volume and sound quality from the DSP with just the factory speakers.

You'll need:
MATCH UP 7DSP with MEC ANALOG IN MODULE
PP-BMW 1.7RAM HARNESS
8 gauge Amp Wiring Kit (~$20 on Amazon)

Install process for an X5 G05 which is similar to the X3: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1893584
