Who has done any audio mods?
Who’s added a sub/amp to the HK (688) system? I want to get a powered sub. IMO the 8” shallow mount enclosure just won’t provide the punch I want. I tried the Bavsound subs in my previous M40i but was not impressed. Looking at the Focal’s but still think a 12” sub is needed for really deep bass.
I found the below to tap into the factory wiring on the F97/F98 but was wondering if anyone has tried it? https://technicpnp.com/product-categ...88-x3-g01-f97/ I was also thinking about getting one of these subs that sits within the center of the spare tire. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FY9BPVR...KRFCSXKV0810TQ Last edited by Mike02z; 05-07-2022 at 04:40 PM.. |

Also, if you have an LCI wiring may be different. |

https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1896294 Edit: Hadn't seen that spare tire type powered sub before... pretty cool. There are a few write-ups on the forums of people finding enclosures that fit in the spare. A powered combo like this (or mine) makes installation a lot smoother and adding the harness is sooo easy to install. Last edited by Must_Go_FASTER; 05-07-2022 at 11:46 PM.. |

Recent audio upgrade
Hello,
I recently upgraded my stereo to improve on the factory tin sound ... The installation included the removal of the factory amp and integrating the new amps/DSP via a NAV-TV unit back into the factory system. All factory functions are retained (NAV, Phone, sounds/alarms etc) Using the Bluetooth streaming adapter allows now for direct streaming into the system without going through the factory unit , this improves the sound event further. Especially if you are using a high(er) end streaming service like Tidal As I am always a fan of clean installs and retaining an OEM look going with the passenger footwell installed sub worked out great. It does not take up much space and delivers amazing results The following components have been used for the upgrade
A few pics from the installation itself Subwoofer installed in the passenger footwell Amps and DSP installed in the trunk , left hand side compartment (also included removal of the factory amp)

I also added an amp/sub kit, did the Alpine Type R 12" with mated 600wattrms Amp. Such a game changer for the car, although now I want to add an 8" for more mids.
