Oil selection help
Hello!
i am a new owner of a BMW X3 2015 sDrive20i i got with 25,000km (old lady who only drove it to the supermarket) I need to do an oil change pretty soon, here in my country (Panama) i have access to liqui moly, what would probably be best? 5w-30 or 5w-40? I have the log of the past services done at the dealership and they started with 5w-30 but then they moved to 5w-40, what would be better considering Panama is a country with usually hot weather? Thanks! |

you probably want a 40 weight ....unless you drive short trips. it takes time for oil temps to reach > 100c. you want the oil to reach 100c to allow moisture to escape using the CCV.
I use 0w-40 here in so. cal as there is some valve train noise when cold with 5w-30 when we got service from the dealership.
