Here are the part numbers: 104.15610 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=428&jsn=428 104.14730 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=426&jsn=426 Both of these are also found at Tire Rack, Amazon, and lots of other places. They also make these for the X5 50i and when I upgrade to those calipers and rotors I'm going with the Posi-Quiet's Front & Rear. |

Yes, I'm getting a small batch of spacers made and proper bolts to accompany. I'll do a write up for the install in a new thread. Quote:

thoughts on EBC yellow or red stuff pads matched with their rotors? i tend to prefer solid OE blanks but these EBC slotted USR rotors caught my attention. https://ebcbrakes.com/product/usr-slotted-rotors/ https://www.amazon.com/EBC-Brakes-S9...ebc+brake+pads Most likely will just get Zimmerman OE blank solid rotors with Centric Posi-Quiet 104 series Semi-Metallic pads or something OE. |

What they say on the pads is: Yellowstuff = a lot of dust, don't work well until hot Redstuff = low dust, work well cold even better when hot. I can't find much anything on initial bite but no one has said they are bad so they should be a safe bet. I don't think there nearly as many running Redstuff's than there are the Posi-Quiet so there's not much 'data' to know for sure. |

I haven't had any issues of any kind with four pairs of their rotors. Although, I'll say I dislike the black geomet coating they come with now. In the past, they were zinc coated, which was far superior. I use a wire brush and brake cleaner to remove the geomet and then I repaint the rotor hub with silver high temp spray paint. I'll add that if you're looking for good braking performance on a budget, you can't beat the pricing combo of their pad and rotor bundled kits. You can typically get a pair of rotors with pads for $20-$60 more than just the pads themselves. You won't get rotors anywhere else for that inexpensive.

Hardparker,
I didn't realize the 2017- M40i G01 Front Calipers were different and look the same as the G30's. They are a different part number than the G30. So will the G01 caliper and disc bolt right up to the F25??? |

The caliper will, but the rotor won't because it's the new, smaller wheel bolt pattern.

1. I wonder if the different G01 calipers will work without spacers.
2. Are the G01 rotor hats shaped where we can't have them redrilled for our bolt pattern? |

The hats could be re-drilled, I think. What would matter would be the hub flange's diameter fitting within the rotor hat dimensions. That would require test fitting as well. Looking at the hub flanges on realoem, I'd say it looks kind of iffy.

Here's a little teaser pic for the X5 50i 365x36mm two-piston caliper setup on my X3. More to come in the days ahead.

But, yes, with the spacers you can run any E70, E71, E72, F15, F16, F85, F86 front brake setup that you want on the front of your F25 or F26! The debris/heat shield will require a little trimming, but nothing major. Optionally, you could just bend back the interfering portions of the shield. The setup I'm ending up with, the X5 50i brakes, are by far the best bang for the buck if you source the calipers used and price shop new rotors and pads. I spent nearly $900 on those remanufactured, like new, E70 X5M calipers, which I thought was pretty cheap, but still expensive. That setup would have been closer to $1500, than the $500 that I'll spend on the 50i setup.

I just upgraded my brakes using EBC Red Stuff pads all around, braided brake lines, new drilled rotors and full brake bleed. I am very satisfied the with improvement. Firmer pedal and a lot more bite but not touchy at all. Now I can brake with confidence and not pucker up in an emergency brake situation and I don't have to press the pedal as hard. The pads are much better than stock. There is a bit more brake dust but its not too bad and washes off easy enough.

Got the brakes finished today. No major issues. They stop harder. Still need to bed them in better. I'll have spacer kits available in about three weeks and I'll do a write up about the install later this week.

Do you have springs installed? I’m curious how much dive the car will have with an increased bite up front. Im convinces with a stiffer front end and larger brakes or better clamp force, braking should be hugely improved. And there is lots of room for improvement. Congrats and thanks for all your effort.

A box of spacers showed up today! Spacers are 304 stainless steel. Hardware includes grade 10.9 OEM equivalent bolts and Nord-Lock safety washers, both zinc geomet coated. Who's ready to rock some bigger brakes?
X5 brake upgrade for X3 or X4 X3/X4 to X5/X6 brake upgrade adapter kit
