Ouch, at that price point, I think most people would spend a few grand more for the German prestige and get a M340i or S4. It doesn't even compete well with the G70 which can be had fully loaded for under $50k.

For 50k pricetag... id expect at least 400hp for the car to be a contender, which would be easy to obtain on a v6-t motor.
...watch it be 340hp lol |

While the TLX is outside a large car the interior size from what I've seen is not really any bigger than the last-gen at 93.3 vs 93.4 cubic feet interior space. So, to put that in perspective.. the last-gen TLX in just about every interior dimension is smaller than the current-gen M340i and the current M340i is at 94. For sure they will poach a few 530i shoppers but the 5 is at 99 cubic ft, so a bit more room in the 5. For reference A4 (92), C-Class (90), G70(94 with a tiny ass trunk), Honda Accord (103). Acura could have did better Last edited by DocWeatherington; 08-20-2020 at 06:41 PM.. |

M340i is mid-$50k... just like the Type S. The difference is the Type S will be better equipped at that price.

Except the type S will be a plow monster, understeer into infinity (pun intended ), unless honda finally makes a neutral handling car, but i HIGHLY doubt they will ever do that with all their safety mantras (drove the new type R, my focus ST handled so much more neutral without an LSD), so Q50\BMW\Cadillac etc etc will still handle way better.

heres a review of the new 2021 tlx aspec shawd, but the 4cyl version, as expected dynamically its not very good.
For arguments sake, the RWD CT4 V series makes 325hp and 380 tq, with a base price of 45k. Comes standard with RWD and LSD, which to me makes it already a better performance sedan out of the box. Last edited by RMachuca3d; 09-24-2020 at 12:49 PM.. |

I'm not too surprised. I watched some other reviews as well since the embargo lifted, and they all seem to tread very lightly knowing Acura is watching. The Straight Pipes have a big enough following that I trust their assessment over some of the other reviewers (not to mention that they have reviewed most of the competition for comparison).

Car and Driver - https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...y-the-numbers/
Seems really heavy for a FWD based AWD car and not following how it ends up 600 lbs heavier than an Accord. My biggest complaint is I don't want to spend this kind of money for a FWD based and normally driven, poor weight distribution car. But the larger footprint brings with it that universal enemy of performance: weight. Top-trim TLXs, with the optional SH-AWD will be pushing 4000 pounds; that's more than 300 pounds heavier than a 330i xDrive and some 600 pounds heavier than a Honda Accord. The battery moves to the rear for the first time in an Acura, shifting a claimed 52 pounds to the tail, while the use of aluminum for the front fenders and shock towers removes 29 pounds from the nose. Acura says the center of gravity shifts 3.4 inches rearward. All-wheel-drive models have a 57/43 percent front/rear weight distribution.

Except it has very similar leg and cargo room as a 3 series or Audi A4. It's basically a bigger car for no reason.

seems like they missed the mark. car looks nice though. i'd imagine most buyers will be people who got a pay raise and want to stay in the honda family. trading in accords to move up to the tlx.
but i can't imagine anyone picking this over a is350 or the upcoming is500 if they want a Japanese car.
