I've had Oyster in 3 BMWs, never had a problem. Cleans up like new every time. The best combination by far IMO.
I have a 3yr old and 8yr old sons. Trust me when i say they have tested the durability of it with all manor of food/toys/mud. I also only ever wear dark jeans and have never had a spec of dye rub off. |

Such nonsense. sorry. Unless he's referring to Nappa leather. I've seen this first hand in Land Rovers, but NEVER in any of my BMW's (3 with oyster Nevada) and i haven't worn light jeans since 1997 |

You must have some special jeans because it is a very common problem with light color leather.

I have the beige interior on my X3 so its pretty much all beige - even the foot area. I put weatherproof mats in and I use the happeseat (also beige) to protect my seat after crossfit and hot yoga.
To be honest, if I had kids I would get black. The person who mentioned getting the leatherette also brings up a good point that you can clean it easily! That being said, I haven't noticed much wear or any marks at all on my beige (from myself). Not even scuffs from my shoes. I'm pleased with it for now... |

I don't know why everyone is being so precious, seats are spray painted, you have clear coat on the top layer, you wouldn't worry about getting chocolate on the hood of your car, you just get a cleaner and wipe it off, same with modern car leather.
Get black if you don't want to clean your interior at all, it will hide the shit if you're lazy, but the difference between looking after black and a light interior is minimal at best. |

I went for the standard black seats of the X-Line version. It is only partial leather, but it looks really nice in reality. And the part where you sit is not leather and therefore maybe not such a problem. Also, because of possible dirt and our American Bulldog I went for black.

Don't know if you've made your decision yet, but if it helps, I have Oyster Leather with 4 x heated seats in my X3 MSport LCI. No pets, but 2 kids / 2 adults, regular use and all types of clothes worn. All they've ever needed is a quick wipe and vacuum and they still look like new after 6 months
