I would probably pick the r8.
On another note: why the hell did Audi break up the blade, it looks awful like that.

R8 for sure. The broken up blade looks 10000000x's better. Great design/update.

I'd really have to drive them both. But I'm already leaning towards the r8.
The i8 is a great "proof of concept". It's cool. Revolutionary. All that stuff. I don't see it as a real "sports car", as you would think of a Porsche, Ferrari or R8. In addition to that, IMO the i8 will prove to be forgettable, as the technology becomes more sophisticated. The Porsche 918 is where I'm thinking sports cars are headed not the i8. I'd rather take an ///M8 so I can woop the R8's booty

Two totally different cars for sure. I love the i8 from the front and I love the interior. But recently someone pointed out that from the rear, the i8 looks like it's pooping out a 911 (991). Now, I can't unsee that!
I'll take the R8 for it's glorious V10 and more cohesive design. |

While I do like the i8 exterior, that's it.
I don't like the materials used, the back seats joke and the poor way they are made, and the fit and finish for some elements like the door rubber seals. Funny, I never thought I will say it, but some R8 things (like the inside door panels) are better design than the i8. Not the last, R8 has an engine. My vote goes to R8. |

R8. It has true supercar DNA, and supercar status. The only thing the i8 can compare itself with the R8 is technology. Other than that the cars are totally different.

I think the the best reason to choose an i8 is that you like/agree with its message. Since I don't like or agree with its message I'd nearly always choose the 'other' vehicle.

People can like BMW cars, and other cars too. R8 is a great looking car. Get over yourself.

So, being on a BMW site, we can't appreciate other cars? It is not hating, it is called being an enthusiast. I would take the previous R8 as I'd want the manual transmission and I also prefer the older interior.
