If you ask your dealer, they should be able to tell you your slot as well as give you a production number that you can track.

I ordered my X3 on April 14th and had a production number a day later. I originally intended to pick the car up at the SC facility but canceled that because of scheduling conflicts. The website says my car is in production this week and will be complete by May 2nd. The dealer never committed to any timeframe or "production slot" as I've heard others mention. They just said an order takes about five weeks to arrive. So it looks like that will be about right for my order.

I placed my order April 18th and as of yet it is still saying the vehicle is scheduled for production with no definite start date. Supposed to be a week 19 slot.

I called them today and I was speechless! They told me my production date was May 19!!!!!! That is 5 weeks after I placed the order, just to start it! They did say that could change, but I am so very disappointed. |

Did you ask them for the production number? If your order has been placed, then they have one and there is no reason for them not to give it to you. You can always call and talk to BMWNA if need be at 1-800-831-1117.

Yeah the production number is really the "proof" your car has been ordered. They need to share it with you asap. About a week after your order is placed you can create a login and track the status of your order on the website. I haven't seen my VIN yet but no real need until I apply for a loan.

Incidently, $2500 is not unreasonable for a order of this car. It is what I put down, and I had no concerns at all that I would get it back if I changed my mind. Relax.

I only put $500 down as well (since I was planning on using a trade in for the rest). My dealer required a minimum of $500 to place the order but people can put as much as they want (up to the value of the order), which may be why her dealer took $2500. The extra $2000 growing interest in her dealer's account rather her's until the car is delivered stinks, but I am sure she will not have a problem.
My dealer did not give me the production number when I placed the order, but he did email it to me a few days later. If your order has been placed, your dealer should give you the production number. Do not feel like you are a pain. They should have given this to you without you even asking. It is fun to watch your car's production video and cool to track your car. I knew my car arrived at the dealer before my salesman, since I was checking production everyday. |

You should get a copy ASAP of the "Vehicle Inquiry Report" from your CA. This will have your exact build and production number. Check it for correctness.

I got a pink slip that has the deal on it and the vehicle information. I also signed off on a complete build print out while I was there. They didn't give me a copy of that though. I wish I knew more about purchasing before I went in. I was just so eager to get it done.

I placed my order on 3/28/11 and I just received notice on 4/29 that it has entered production. Pretty much the same loaded set up as yours except mine is Mineral Silver with beige interior. I was disappointed in general with the color offerings and defaulted to mineral silver. I would have loved Imperial Blue Looking forward to delivery.
